I have pretty decent neighbors, who like me want to be left alone, but friendly enough to wave or chat maybe once a week, they mind their own business and I mind mine but still watch over everybody on the street.

Same with my neighbors on both sides. Nice people, no real fuss from either one.

One is a younger couple with a young boy. So, bikes and toys sometimes get left over in my driveway. I don't make any fuss, I remember what it was like growing up. Glad they have a nice cul-du-sac to enjoy.

Yeh I guess we are the lucky ones here, I don't think I could live next door to some of what others have described here, one too many cocktails for me and a bad attitude, bad things happen, just saying! I'll have to go around and thank my neighbors for being good neighbors and please don't move anytime soon, hahaha.............

My neighbours are psychopaths. We have had to call the police three times because he has began hurling abuse over our fence at us for no reason. The first time it happened it was because we trimmed back branches of his tree's that were growing into our property and making it difficult to mow the lawn properly. This is a perfectly fine thing to do but he went absolutely mental and began screaming and threatening us. If it wasn't for the fact that we had a very large and very territorial boxer at the time, he would have jumped the fence. A couple of years later, after said boxer had died we got another one. When this dog was about 6 months old (still a puppy) he wandered into their garden and we heard him scream at the dog and literally kick it over the fence. Currently he is on a warning that if he interacts with us in any way again he will be arrested.

I live in an apartment, and my neighbors walk really loud using their backs of their feet so their steps don't have much of a spring to them. It gets annoying when they walk around a lot or have lots of people over.

Do their visitors also walk using the backs of their feet? For some reason this is making me laugh hard.

I think so, because I can literally hear their china shaking and dinging as they walk. If I was to describe it, I would say it sounded like a dozen elephants in a china shop :D

Loudly and persistently revving his car in his driveway for no apparent reason on a Saturday morning. Then eventually drag racing around our streets. That and the fact he "acquired" another rubbish bin so gets extra garbage collection compared to everyone else. Then there's the late night parties mid week, riding a motorbike bike with an infant on board who has no helmet. And another favourite-starting fires next to another neighbour so smoke and ash ends up all over their washing and property.

His habit of chopping away everything on his side of the wall and then leaning stuff against it. This led to a collapse of said wall when my then six-year-old was playing at its foot. Luckily he was yanked away by my friend (who had been clearing away the wild ivy growth) at the last minute, thus preventing serious injury and/or death. As we were all recovering from the shock, said neighbour came out of his house, looked and the rubble and said "I hope you're not going to replant the ivy". I was told to go away by my friend lest I say something actionable.

Fast forward a few years and he caught me in the garden. He moaned about something trivial and I dropped an F bomb. Long pause... "I don't think I like that sort of language" he said. "I know I don't like you" was my instant retort.

    We haven't spoken since. :)

I... wha... how does someone even have that train of logic...

Guess this proves my old joke, "If a person can't handle a good bout of swearing, they're no friend of mine"

I always did think him a bit odd. It felt really great telling him I didn't like him. Hadn't said that since primary school! :)

Since the upstairs neighbors moved out with their child crying on cue at 11 PM and 2 AM (the owners installed hardwood floors so we lost any noise absorption between floors) the only remaining annoyance is our downstairs neighbors lighting up at random hours in the night. While I don't object to them taking advantage of the legality of marijuana my fiancee has an allergic reaction to it, and whatever blend they smoke is extremely noxious. We had to keep our windows closed at night rather than let in the night air until I finally purchased a box fan and set it to blow out.

I've never actually heard of someone allergic to weed before. I mean, I should know it's possible, because you can be allergic to almost anything, but never something I'd thought of before.

One side is nice a quiet, wave when you see each other. Other side is loud arguing a lot (nothing physical). Guy across the street mows his lawn at least 3 times a week. Older, retired couple, I think it's just something to do or get away from his wife for a little while.

My next-door neighbors haven't mowed their lawn yet this summer. The weeds have completely taken over at this point and are nearly waist-high for my 5-year old son. So, naturally, he thinks it's hilarious to run out the door first in the mornings and hide in the grass.

They're definitely home, because we can hear the partying every weekend (rental house full of students). I expect they don't bother mowing their lawn because there are too many empty beer bottles all over it.

The last part is exactly what I was thinking. Too much trash to mow it now, its deteriorated too far.

Neighbors on either side are pretty good. Crazy old hermit lady that keeps to herself to the point you kinda forget someone lives there...and a young couple that are a pilot and flight assistant, so are gone for a few days at a time. Worst thing they do is double park in our circle when they have friends over at the weekend, but we can still get out even when they do that.

Waaaayyyy better than it used to be. Had everything from alcoholics that would just show up at your backdoor for no reason, creepy old women that would thank you for trimming your bushes so they could spy on you easier (she literally said that), and waves of college students that would try to have 10 cars at a house laid out for 2...in a circle.

I really like all our neighbors. Mostly we keep to ourselves, as does everyone else. However, the one that I relate to the most due to similar interests tends to stop me at precisely the times that I would either a) be in a hurry and have zero time, b) I just woke up and am not yet my normal self, or c) right when I'm in the middle of something and I'm in the zone to be working on that particular thing. I don't mind a friendly Hi or good morning, but this guy LOVES to talk about our common interests and will suck up 30 minutes of my time if I give him that first 30 seconds.

I feel like anything I say here would be dismissed as projecting....

But seriously, if you have a bird feeder, be mindful of those who live below you.

We have very good neighbors compared to others in this thread so far. But the most annoying thing about our next door neighbors is that they let their little spaniel out randomly into the street to go to the bathroom. We live on a court, so it's not really a high volume area... but still. I've come back really late at night to have to kind of slam on the brakes a bit because the dog is wandering around outside and I'm afraid she'll dart out in front of the car. Also, letting her wander around means she can crap in other people's yards and it won't get picked up, so there's that.

No neighbors on one side, the other side is a retired cop. He's a really nice guy. I left him a bag of fresh figs today and he gave me a dressed pheasant last year. I don't like when he's working in his garage and i can hear his music when i go outside, but he has Meniere's disease,so his hearing is pretty bad.
