I use amazon a lot when shopping for little gadgets and gizmos, stuff I can't find locally. I do a lot of research, and generally check other sources to see the real ratings and quality of the products. I must agree, Amazon definitely has an image problem going into this decade.

Sadly, the issue is that as we advance forward, pretty much everything experiences that "network" effect. As for trusting an electric vehicle brand... I would have to go with the company that's essentially decades ahead of the big auto manufacturers in pretty much every technology that counts. ie. battery tech, self driving, regenerative braking, electric engine advancements, onboard computing, over air updates, etc.
Remember, these are the same people that are currently building reusable rockets, creating materials that are stronger, more flexible and far better due to their experience in rockets. We must remember that Tesla / SpaceX have been paving the way since like 2008, and the big auto makers (in regards to Tesla) only truly took it seriously about 5 years ago, and even then, it's not like Tesla is standing still with the innovation, actually the opposite is true.
