My neighbours are psychopaths. We have had to call the police three times because he has began hurling abuse over our fence at us for no reason. The first time it happened it was because we trimmed back branches of his tree's that were growing into our property and making it difficult to mow the lawn properly. This is a perfectly fine thing to do but he went absolutely mental and began screaming and threatening us. If it wasn't for the fact that we had a very large and very territorial boxer at the time, he would have jumped the fence. A couple of years later, after said boxer had died we got another one. When this dog was about 6 months old (still a puppy) he wandered into their garden and we heard him scream at the dog and literally kick it over the fence. Currently he is on a warning that if he interacts with us in any way again he will be arrested.

I think that it would depend on what state you would be in after you "escaped". If you escaped into a virtual reality and your body was just left sitting in a chair connected to the VR then all you would do is drain resources as people would have to make sure you didn't die in this comatose state while you were enjoying yourself in your virtual world. You would benefit as you would be in a world that you likely chose and are probably enjoying yourself but you are also not contributing anything to society in the real world. This is obviously bad.
If on the other hand your escape was through suicide or through some other way that directly harmed you then you are getting into a whole other argument altogether. Now you are talking about whether everyone should have complete autonomy over their body, the right to die and the effects of these situations on the person and society as a whole.

I don't think that it is true to say that the economy doesn't touch their lives. They may have a greater economic security than most but they are still affected by the changes in the economy like the rest of us even if it is to a lesser degree. I think that the reason that the presidential candidates aren't mentioning the economy is because most people don't understand economics. It's a very confusing topic and apart from a few buzzwords and cliche phrases that are thrown around to entice voters (lower taxes, promote small businesses etc.) it is very difficult to make economics a subject that can be discussed in a way that the average voter can understand.

I don't think that a separate movement would be a good idea. The whole anti police brutality movement has become a race issue even though people of all races are being killed the same. Instead of getting angry because a black person was killed by police or because a white person was killed by police, we should be getting angry that people in general are being killed by police. Turning a problem that seems to be as widespread as this into a race issue just divides people and makes people think that it is unique to a particular group of people and they become complacent in the belief that it won't happen to them and are therefore less likely to try and do something about it.

I can't stand it when people say "soz" instead of sorry. It instantly makes me think the person is an idiot.

It's a fairly obvious choice but I only started reading Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" series a few days ago. The way so far it is really enjoyable. There is a really good blend of humour and his descriptions of the world are really good. It kind of has a similar narrative style as "The Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy" imo.

I have awful handwriting. It was the neatest when I was about 6 or 7 and then I was forced to use cursive until I was 12. By the time I no longer had to use cursive the damage was done. Now it's just a squiggly mess.
