Commented in Illinois Is The 1st State To Tell Police They Can't Lie To Minors In Interrogations
Police shouldn't be allowed to lie, full stop, let alone to children. Stealing, lying, US cops seem to have lost their way.

Commented in Chicago mayor demands answers after Smollett hoax charges dropped
Rahm Emanuel's crocodile tears about the smooth functioning of wheels of justice in his city notwithstanding, there's something unseemly about this backlash. If we take the accusations at face value, the exposure of Smollett's scheme perfectly serves the Magas' propaganda needs. He's not getting away with it. Does justice really demand he needs a damn good licking as well?

Commented in Privacy advocate held at gunpoint after license plate reader database mistake, lawsuit alleges
US cops need to chill out a bit. This isn't a huge issue in other countries.

Commented in Is Marijuana as Safe as We Think?
In my country the police have a roadside saliva test that you have to lick. It's notoriously unreliable, giving apparently, false positives and false negatives.

Fucking cops in the US have zero accountability. It's always someone else's fault.

Commented in Alabama Cops Kill 21-Year-Old After They Say He Opened Fire In A Mall. Now They Say He Didn't
Hard to keep pushing the "good guy with a gun" narrative when the cops shoot on sight without asking questions immediately on arrival.

But they’re cops. And it’s Alabama. Nothing to see here.

Commented in Alabama police officers suspended for supposedly racist hand gesture
That gesture has been around since at least the early 80's in the military. In that earlier, much less politically correct time, it was "Why are you looking at my dick?" Somebody recently said it meant something else, so now, of course it's racist.
"Stuff means what I want it to mean, not what you meant."
Lot of cops are ex-military or grew up military, BTW.

This is why we shouldn't get half our articles from local Fox affiliates.

Commented in Mesa man arrested for impersonating officer; tried to pull over troopers
There's your standard level of stupid, and then there's "pulling over cops while pretending to be a cop" level of stupid.

Commented in Why is it so hard to charge motorists with murdering cyclists?
Well, at this point accidental "murder" is generally considered manslaughter and not homicide. Unless as a society we fix the way roads are built, and cars are governed internally (hopefully soon) we will continue to have these sort of idiotic accidents. I mean, why are cops rarely charged with murder when shooting and killing innocent people in situations that should have been easily deescalated? It's just one of the many problems out there that need a complex solution.

Commented in How debt kills
Tragic, but not surprising. A combination of the gig economy (the newest tool for the rich to exploit the needy) plus a ridiculously oppressive government (Britain). But hey, at least they communicated their sympathy to the family! British cops are so nice.

Commented in 3 Charged In Fatal Kansas ‘Swatting’ Attack
And, of course, the cop who jumped the gun gets no punishment. This is exactly why this will keep going on. Other trigger happy cops can be rest assured down the road.

Commented in Officer gives firefighter apology cake: 'Sorry I tased you'
Real US cops don't apologise for anything they do, they find dirt on the victim and double down.
-
Commented in Several pedestrians hit by a white van that fled scene, Toronto police say
It was almost strange with all the police videos out there where cops shoot as soon as something shiny is visible.

Commented in Neo-Nazis hold a shocking swastika burning ritual in Georgia
one of the largest neo-Nazi groups in the US
I count 24 neo-nazis in the most crowded picture. Really bad turnout, their social secretary should be fired.
The counter protest coordinator did a slightly better job, looks like they might have had twice as many show up. (Not "hundreds"). Both groups were vastly outnumbered by press and cops.
So I guess the win goes to the neos, they got people to pay attention to their pitiful little club.

Commented in Oakland coffee shop says it's keeping the peace by not serving cops
The one you create when you kick out the cops. It's not so easy to get a CC permit for the average citizen in Oakland, so the civilians aren't likely to be legally carrying.

Commented in “Swatting” didn’t kill a man, police did
The cops turn up to a swatting, in force, armed and armored. No matter what is happening at the gig, they are safe. They are certainly safe from a man in the open with a pistol. Even if one cop gets injured, the guy with the pistol is dead. The trouble is that if anyone fires a shot, and it's usually the cops, the civilian is also dead. The cops really have nothing much to fear and need to ask questions first before shooting. If they show up and shoot someone without asking any questions, it is murder.

Commented in “Swatting” didn’t kill a man, police did
I threw a shoe at a car on the highway, and in reaction to the shoe a man swerved off the road, went over the barrier, and hit a family walking on the sidewalk. Who killed the family? The shoe thrower or the man driving his truck home?
Sure cops are responsible to a point, but common, this goes deeper than just the face value.
