Commented in There's progress on right to repair, but is it enough?
Or donate to the people who develope all that open source software like VLC, Blender, KDE, Gnome or the EFF or even W3C, since the foundations of the internet (HTML, PHP, MySQL, Javascript) are all readable for everyone and is open for everyone to learn and use as see fit - for free). W3C are the ones who take care of standards, which is good for programmers and users alike. When there are no standards, everything goes wrong, check videoformats for streaming or interactive design (Flash, anyone?). Plugins for using the internet is a form of pushiness for capital gain and exclusion.

Commented in This Is Why You Should Be Eating Banana Peels — Seriously!
I’ve been meaning to get more fruits and ionizing radiation in my diet. All I have to do is clip the stem off a banana, and throw the whole thing in the blender with my usual ingredients? I could do that. I might. How about you? Truth or dare?

Commented in Logo render for a friend
Thanks! It was mostly blender compositor using the defocus,glare-streak, glare-fog glow and lens distort node in that order. I then used Gimp to add the slight film grain and adjust contrast a tad.

Commented in Logo render for a friend
So was this blender alone or did you do some post in PS? Very nice by the way, I love the chromatic separation toward the edges.

Commented in Basic New York-style Pizza Dough
I've had really good luck with this recipe. Looks like the same one, really.
However, I'd recommend proofing the yeast just to make sure it rises okay. Add the rest of the ingredients into blender, blend for several minutes to get that gluten through the roof. I normally divide the dough into 7oz chunks and freeze it. Next time I want a quick pizza I thaw it out, put some toppings on there and bake in oven.
Cooking pizza on the grill works, too. Just have to be careful getting it off the peel and onto the grill.

Commented in Tutorials For Blender Newbs and Veterans
Ye Andrew price is very good. Another that I (and judging by submissions to /r/blender everyone else as well) used is Tutor4u on youtube. He was pretty useful for getting the very very basics right at the beginning.

Commented in Samurai Jack Fan Tribute
I would love to see a whole movie like this. The video description says it was made in Blender, aside from that I'm not sure.

Commented in Samurai Jack Fan Tribute
Really really cool. I love the background objects like the leaves and the mist. Also the camera movement was really good. Not too sudden and full of cuts like a lot of action scenes. Do you know if it was made entirely in Blender?
Welcome by the way, I think this is the first post to /t/blender not submitted by either me or swanee :D

Commented in Reddit is now Deddit
Yea, this is what digg didn't have - established micro-communities. I can't imagine /r/blender, /r/learnprogramming or other such subs to ever feel the need to move unless something much worse happens. Or, of course, an alternative providing such a significantly better experience than the existing option, but as the main influence on that factor is the level of activity in a community, it's hard to imagine how that would happen.

Commented in Reddit is now Deddit
I'm pretty sure reddit will be ok. Even if it changes into something else.
I am still going there for some niche subreddits (r/blender) because there are so many users compared to here (where I have now started /t/blender). If you are in those smaller niche subreddits you don't get any of the shit compared to say r/all. I do hope the smaller tribes here can grow though so i can totally cut off from reddit.

Commented in Dr. Zone (Blender sculpture)
Nice. Pretty good for a first go with sculpting. You should cross post this over at /t/blender as well. And come over if you need any tips with sculpting and hair particles!

Commented in My 3d modeling gallery.
Now I come to think of it, it has probably been about 2 years since I first found out about Blender. Have been on and off it since then because its hard to find the time.

Commented in Blender 2.75 - New Version Out 3 Days Ago (July 1st)
Main updates:
Blender now supports a fully integrated Multi-View and Stereo 3D pipeline
Cycles has much awaited initial support for AMD GPUs, and a new Light Portals feature.
UI now allows font previews in the file browser.
High quality options for viewport depth of field were added
Modeling has a new Corrective Smooth modifier.
The Decimate modifier was improved significantly.
3D viewport painting now supports symmetry and the distribution of Dynamic Topology was improved
Video Sequence Editor: Placeholders can now replace missing frames of image sequences
Game Engine now allows smoother LOD transitions, and supports mist attributes animation
And: 100s of bug fixes and smaller feature improvements.
A lot of people have been calling for better AMD support for a long time. I have an nvidia card so haven't looked at it much, but from reading others complaints it seems that for AMD cards to work at all took a fair bit of messing around. So that's good. Anything to boost competition in this area is always music to my ears.

Commented in My 3d modeling gallery.
Wow. Thank god you're here Swanee or it would probably just be me posting what little I have. I'm away in Shanghai at the moment and can only post what I had previously put on imgur.
I particularly like number 32 and the dream catcher at the end. How long have you been using Blender? Is it just a hobby or are you getting paid for some of this?
This is really great.

Commented in Simple Charmander
Ye I'm terrible at lighting because I haven't got round to reading/watching anything about it. It's one of the less exciting subjects for me but i know it's important.
I remember I did this one mainly to try out some compositing tricks in Blender, learnt a lot and hopefully will get better.

Commented in The 'Next' Seinfeld Has Already Been on TV for a Decade
[P]eople didn’t analyze and discuss TV with the same rigor that they do today. If they had, they likely would have noticed that Sunny took Seinfeld’s “no hugging, no learning” formula, threw it into a blender along with a healthy portion of debauchery and reckless abandon, cranked that blender to “HIGHLY EXCESSIVE” and then consumed enough of the resulting concoction to transform into a sort of sitcom Abomination. It was beautiful.
That's one of the best descriptions of It's Always Sunny I've ever seen.

Commented in 11 Healthy Reasons Why You Need a Better Blender
Is she sponsored by Vitamix? It's definitely a great blender, but not the only great one. "Vitamix Cheesecake".

Commented in World's Hottest Chili Pepper Challenge: Carolina Reaper
I find her intensely annoying, which optimizes my joy in seeing her eat all those peppers. She swallows them after barely chewing, which maximizes the intestinal pain to follow. I put my super hots in a blender with tomatoes and pineapples and such, which is much easier to digest.

Commented in Scientists say AI fears unfounded, could hinder tech advances
Ya know, in every "killer robots from the future" movie, there's the bunch of generic scientists that say"oh, nonesense, what can possibly go wrong?" and then everyone gets sliced up by a giant sentient blender. Just sayin'...

Commented in Keurig's Controversial Java 'DRM' Defeated By A Single Piece Of Scotch Tape
This gave me such a chuckle. When are these control freaks going to learn once one buys something,it belongs to them!? You don't tell me how to use my coffee maker,my blender,or my computer. It's MINE,not yours. And the reader comments here and there are just gems. Too bad the powers that be will never read them and change their evil ways. Such is life.

Commented in How to make homemade Nutella
Upvote because Nutella! :) Also this looks amazing and so healthy with so much hazelnut in it. Unfortunately, I don't have a blender.
