What's Inside Saturn Moon Enceladus? Geyser Timing Gives Hints

The timing of explosive eruptions of vapor and ice on Saturn's icy moon Enceladus could provide new insights into the satellite's interior structure, which could be a home to life.

Have you looked into your Snapzu lineage? Does anyone have more XP than their Snapzu "ancestors"?

For example, my lineage is made up only of /u/picklefingers, who is quite active. I doubt I'll ever pass them in XP.

Anyone out there passed their "ancestors" in XP?

/t/SpacePics - part of the Themed Pics Coalition

Hey fellow tribespeople, come check out /t/SpacePics. It is where /t/pics and /t/space intersect, resulting in a place to post and find high quality images of anything related to outer space. Planets, comets, stars, galaxies, New Horizons, etc, etc, etc, etc.

/t/SpacePics is part of the Themed Pics Coalition. This is a Coalition of tribes that provide high quality images with more specific themes than the overarching /t/pics. The concept for this Coalition came about from a similar network from a similar site, with an unsavory name. We would like to keep the concept but at the same time remove the unsavory name that has accompanied this concept moving forward. There are several sites from this network on Snapzu as well, and the Coalition's goal is for these to be diverted to Coalition tribes as new members join Snapzu. Due to this, we do not try to shut down the sites from this network, but to focus on our Coalition instead. If you agree or disagree with the naming of the tribes or the Coalition, feel free to comment here.

At the moment, our Coalition is made up of 4 tribes. Due to the rule of /t/newtribes about only a single promotion per tribe, I will not mention them here, and let them make their own posts instead. But if you want to find or join the other 3, the list is in the Rules section of /t/SpacePics.

We welcome anyone else who would like to create more tribes for the Themed Pics Coalition. Maybe one day it will grow to the size of the aforementioned network, with your help.

/t/earthporn update in the rules. Any feedback appreciated.

    Hey /t/earthporn tribespeople,

I just added the following 3 rules for the tribe:

    1. This is not a pornography tribe. Any NSFW content will be removed.

    2. Whenever possible, please include the source where you found the image by using the "Add Sources" button (found in the upper right corner of the submission page). If it is your own, say so in the subtitle. Do not submit pictures that are in violation of copyright. If you are the owner of an image that's in violation of copyright, let the tribe leader or a moderator know by PM, and it will be removed.

    3. To get more people to view your image, make sure to upload it a second time as a cover image. That way, it will appear as a thumbnail next to your post.

Let me know what you think. This is the first time I have led a community like this (other than the /t/tax tribe I plan to lead too), so I don't know if there's a better way to state these rules, or if any others would be useful as well.

/t/earthporn is the place to post awesome, high quality, pictures of our home planet

I don't know how, but /t/earthporn was unclaimed as of this morning. So now I claimed it, and am working on building it up. Come by and join! I'll try to post pictures in there regularly, but most of them will not be my own. If you have an awesome gallery of pictures from places you've traveled, feel free to post them there.

As far as the name of the tribe goes, I want to make clear that there is no actual pornography allowed in this tribe. How many fellow members object to having "porn" be in the name? Since I claimed the tribe instead of creating it, I am not able to change it's name. But I am willing to create a "doppelganger" tribe that has the same content with a milder name. Something like... earthsnapz? If enough members (tribespeople?) are interested, I'll make it.

As far as other tribes for high quality pics, /t/spaceporn already exists, but there's plenty of potential for others to be created. Anyone up to the task?

Tribe chief for t/personalfinance needed! Must be Level 15

    Hi t/personalfinance!

I haven't been here for too long (a Reddit user trying out the site), but I see that t/personalfinance has almost 300 members (tribespeople?) and many posts in the last year. However, at the moment, there is no tribe leader. I was looking to claim the tribe myself, but with its size, a user must be Level 15 to claim it. In my 48 hours on this site, I only got up to Level 4, and don't anticipate being Level 15 any time soon. So... is anyone else interested in claiming this tribe?

One tribe I have claimed is t/tax. Taxes is one of the topics I would expect to be covered in a personal finance tribe too, so I would expect most content posted in t/tax to be cross posted to t/personalfinance. It would be great if we could get both of these tribes to grow into places where users can come to ask financial questions and get answers from experts or people who have been in the same situation. (I know we don't want to re-create Reddit here, but the subreddits r/tax and r/personalfinance are good examples of what I'm shooting for.) Anyone out there who's at least Level 15 wanna claim this tribe and aim for that goal?

Welcome to t/tax! Come and introduce yourself.

    Hello and welcome to t/tax!

I am YourTaxGuy, the leader of this tribe. My goal is to build it up into a community where anyone can ask questions regarding taxes, and get quality responses from tax professionals. I am an Enrolled Agent, and have been in the field for 8 years. If you are a CPA, and EA, a tax attorney or any other tax practitioner looking to help out others, I would be thrilled if you would join this tribe. If you are not an expert and looking to get a tax question answered, don't be shy in posting it to this tribe, and we'll try to make the subject less scary. The goal is to concentrate on US Income taxes, but any type of tax and any other country's tax system is also encouraged to be discussed here.

If you do decide to join, leave a little message here introducing yourselves.

10 years ago today, NASA's Deep Impact probe slammed into Comet Tempel 1. What we have learned since then.

On July 4, 2005, NASA's Deep Impact spacecraft released an 820-lb. (370 kilograms) probe that smashed into Comet Tempel 1 at 23,000 mph (37,000 km/h), gouging out a crater about 500 feet (150 meters) wide.
