/t/streetart- Because art shouldn't be confined to a gallery!

Art isn't meant to be confined. Music flows freely everywhere it goes, so why should art be imprisoned in boring old museums and galleries? Nay, I say, and bring the art to the people! As you're walking through the street, waiting on the bus stop, or maybe just heading outside on your break, you'll see drab concrete and dull metal.

Here is where /t/streetart comes in. Graffiti, murals, sidewalk art, it's all an expression of the freedom that art embodies, and brightens up your daily life without you going out of your way to see it.

If you're a street artist, or just happen to find an awesome piece, don't hesitate to join!

    Read THIS Before Posting!

Hello, and welcome to /t/gamersdilemma! In this post I will explain how to title your posts so we can maintain order and an organized manner of posting. This way, people will be able to come here and quickly find what they're looking for by scanning the posts.

There will be three types of posts here in this tribe: Posts recommending games, posts disapproving of games, and posts asking if a game is good or not. Here is how they will be tagged:

    1) [You Should Buy] is for posts that are bringing attention to good games worthy of attention. For example:

[You Should Buy] Counter Strike: Global Offensive

    2) [Do Not Buy] is for posts about really bad, trashy, or otherwise unworthy games that people should avoid like the plague. Example:

    [Do Not Buy] Bad Rats

    3) [Should I Buy] stands for Should I Buy, and is for posts where you're asking about a game you're unsure about. Example:

    [Should I Buy] Darkest Dungeon?

You can also add on to the question if you want. Do you have two games to choose from, or do you have a general idea of what you want? You can use this:

    4) [What Should I Buy] stands for What Should I Buy, and is for posts where you're asking an open-ended question. Example:

[What Should I Buy] if I liked Rust?

    or

[What Should I Buy] Minecraft, or Terraria?

I hope that makes things easier for everyone! If you have any questions, feel free to post them here!

    Welcome to /t/gamersdilemma!

Do you have a game in mind that you want to buy, but aren't sure if it's worth it? Are gameplay videos and YouTube reviews not cutting it? Here in this tribe, we can help you out with that! This tribe was created to recommend games, warn people about bad ones, and promote excellent games! At long last, never again have buyer's remorse... and defeat the gamer's dilemma!

There are a few rules in this tribe, but they're in the next sticky. As chief I simply want everyone to have a good time here as we recommend good games to each other, so that means no flaming or trolling. It doesn't matter if you hate CoD, respect everyone's opinion. Follow that simple rule, and we'll all get along great!

    Welcome to /t/artrequest!

Do you have a great idea for a drawing or painting, but lack the skills or time to make it? Do you lack the aforementioned skills but lack the imagination? Fret and worry no more! This tribe was made with you in mind!

Users can post requests to draw, paint, sculpt, etc whatever they can imagine, and artists will pick up these requests as they come. Payment isn't exactly necessary, but some requests would perhaps be deserving of some sort of compensation. For example, if you request requires a lot of time to make, or if it requires special equipment, then you should probably try to make it worth the artist's while to fulfill your request. More on this can be found in the sidebar.

Make sure to read all the stickies here before posting! There are guidelines you'll use and rules to follow, but the most important one is to have fun! This tribe was made to make art that wouldn't normally be made otherwise, so let's have fun while we make some special art!

[Offer] I'll Draw For Food- Digital and Pencil Artist

Sup, guys. I'm here to not only make your experience at /t/artrequest great, but to also offer my services. After all, the leader of an art tribe must be an artist, right? Let me introduce myself to break the provervial ice here. I'm an art student in college, and signing up for requests is not only a great way to kill time doing something I love, it's the fastest way to build up my portfolio. I excel at drawing humans, but I can draw mostly anything if you ask me to!

If you need a sense of my style and format, here is my instagram: https://instagram.com/davidalexanderarango/

I tend to prefer graphite (lead pencil) drawings, but I'm getting a better computer soon. With a better computer comes digital art, so that'll be another thing you guys can ask for. I'm up for drawing anything, but as I have other requests active, it might take a little while.

Anyways, that's me, urbanknight4! I hope you'll find my pieces to your liking, and I hope you have a great time here!

By the way, I'm not really drawing for food lol. We can figure something out per post, but if your request is light enough we can skip a price.

This tribe seems to have never had a chief, but when I fill out the "Create tribe" form and stuff, clicking on the "Claim this Tribe" button does nothing. I'm already the chief of /t/artequest so it's not a stretch for me to manage this one.

How many of you guys use tablets to make digital art?

When I mean tablet I don't mean your iPad or whatever, I mean something like a Wacom Intuos or the like. I'm only recently getting into digital art and I definitely appreciate the benefits it has over traditional drawing, but for the life of me I can't yet figure out how to do it.

I tried buying a Lenovo tablet/laptop, but after endless searching and finally buying it I discovered the model I had bought didn't come with a stylus. I returned it and started looking at Wacom. Problem with these tablets is that you don't see what you're drawing in the regular sense of the word. You draw on the tablet, but you don't look down at your hand, you look up at your computer screen.

This makes things complicated for me since it requires basically relearning how to draw and use your hand-eye coordination. I was wondering how you guys got over these difficulties, if you were able to. I know it's very rewarding to draw directly in your computer instead of scanning (it's a nightmare), but the entry level, even for the cheapest tablet, is around $70 upwards. It wouldn't be super expensive if I weren't a college student, so I was also hoping somebody might convince me to (or not) to get one.

    Thank you for reading!

Tl;dr: Should I get a Wacom tablet even though I've never used one? How do I train myself to use one?

[Discussion] Just finished reading Planet Hulk and World War Hulk. What did you guys think?

Obviously there are going to be spoilers ahead. If you haven't read this story arc, I suggest you do before commenting here because it has a gutwrenching plot twist at the end.

    You've been warned.

Planet Hulk was obviously great in scope, making Hulk more than an angry monster. He fought, he bled, he suffered in Sakkar. What I like best was that Hulk (and just Hulk) was finally at peace towards the end. He was feeling great, he had friends, a queen, people that loved him. What confused me was that Banner was seen as the bad guy here, always berating Hulk and reproaching him for being angry.

I'm not gonna excuse Hulk's methods, but he is kinda right. Everyone wants to beat him up because they think he's dangerous when really he just wants to be alone. And in some issues, Banner is actually defending Hulk. So why is he the bad guy of this arc?

Anyways, we all know what happens next. Hulk's ship blows up and turns his aforementioned queen, people, and some of his friends to radioactive ash. SO naturally, Hulk does what he does best. He gets angry.

Here's where my favorite scene in comic history happens. Well, one of two. The first is the Hulk announcing to the world that he'll smash it as he holds up Black Bolt's broken body. Priceless.

The second is when Hulk takes on the X-men. Powerful players like Cyclops, Wolverine, and Colossus are swatted aside like bugs, which that's probably what they are to him. The reason I love this so much is the overpowering way that he beats up the ENTIRE X-men. It's not just the Young X-men and the dudes inside the Xavier Institute. It's the Uncanny X-men as well, and a bunch of other guys brought by Nightcrawler. Heck, even Juggernaut joins the fight... only to get beat up. Twice.

And the ending to this entire thing... I'm thinking this is a long enough post. We all know what happened, so why don't we talk about it? It was a great comic series and it made me actually like and root for the Hulk- somebody I couldn't have cared less about before.

I've been hearing a lot about Dune. Is it worth reading?

I have absolutely no idea what Dune is even about save that it's supposedly really good, hard to get into and a bit tough to decipher (I heard there are made up words there??), but ultimately a great book.

Now, without spoiling anything, can you guys tell me what this book is about and if it's good enough to read? I can look up the synopsis on wikipedia or whatever, but maybe a fan can give me a better explanation. I really want to get back into reading, and I figured that after a few months of not reading this would be one of the books I'll tackle. You know, get back in the scene and all.

Feel free to discuss, but again... no spoilers!

It's been a long enough time. We have mourned Lavalval Chain for days. Let's talk about the banlist.

Seriously, what the heck? Lavalval Chain? Absolute heresy. Basically all my decks ran him, and half of them ran 3 copies. This effectively neuters them, pardon my French.

What cards were taken out that you needed? What brought you joy in these dark times? Discuss!

Who's interested in a Rogue Trader game on Roll20?

I just recently found out that Games Workshop has a 40k Dungeons and Dragons clone called Rogue Trader. Dark Crusade came first, but Rogue Trader sounds better to me. You begin as the crew of a giant starship, mercenaries on the search of loot and plunder abroad.

I'm not a DM, so I'll be looking for one, but I'm making this post just to see who's interested. We can have the game on Roll20 or Tabletop Simulator so it's all online.

[Android] Check Out the Warhammer 40k Space Wolves game!

I've been playing it for a few hours yesterday and today, and I have a kind of solid opinion on it. The art is great, the animations are ok (there's only one death animation for enemies, it gets boring fast), and the gameplay is interesting if you cozy up to it.

It's a turn based strategy game with card and deck elements, and it's quite faithful to the 40k universe. The plot is something along the lines of the Chaos Legion of the Word Bearers (bad guys) attacking a couple Space Wolf starships (good guys) and making them crash land in the planet below. The game revolves around finding gear, reuniting with your lost men, and thwarting the Word Bearers in their heretical plans.

It does behave like a traditional mobile game in the way that it unsubtly asks you to buy booster packs and locks up your squad sometimes (because they're "resting"). Speaking of the card system, I'm not sure I understand it, and I can't be bothered to learn. So far I can use the forge and organize my decks, but it's still a bit confusing and I wish they'd just put regular weapons (like Xcom) and such in there instead of a weapon roulette.

Its good, for a mobile game. As something to lose time, yes. But anything beyond casual play and you might find yourself bored or too confused to enjoy it for hours at a time. Anyways, enough about my opinion. What do you guys think? If you haven't done so, download it! Its fun and free- there's no reason not to.

Wanted: Artists to offer their services (Dead or alive optional)

It has been a couple of weeks and I'd like to see a bit more activity here on /t/artrequest. Most of that activity would be fixed if I had a few artists here ready to take offers, and so I officially invite any artist, no matter their skill level, to join this tribe and set up shop. We're a very open tribe and we don't discriminate, so if you come here as a learner, no problem. We're all here to learn, even if you're a master artist or whatever.

Please refer to the "Please Read This Before Posting" sticky before... you know, posting. Heh. It offers you some help with tags and such.

I hope you enjoy you time here in /t/artrequest! Let's make this tribe a great one!

[Discussion] Who would be interested in a Warhammer 40k/Fallout session?

I've been thinking for a while about making a Fallout game, but since I love the idea so much there's no way I'm GM'ing for it, I wanna play it. There's also the tiny issue that I've never hosted a game before, but let's ignore unpleasantness.

Its actually quite simple to get Pathfinder to work with Fallout. All you need is to slightly modify.... ok, I don't remember, but it's an Apocalypse engine based off of Pathfinder. Brownie points to whoever can find it! I have it somewhere in my bookmarks...

Anyways, therein lies my Fallout idea. There's also another one, 40k. If you don't know what that is, no problem. Look it up and then continue reading. But first praise the Emperor.

I was thinking about a small mercenary band, travelling through the galaxy in a small, sturdy starship with a Warp drive and an Astropath to talk to people. The reason I chose mercs is because a game with just Astartes or just Imperial Guard or whatever would be boring. This way, you can play anything. You can play an exiled Space Marine. A mercenary Ork. An Eldar corsair. A regular human. Whatever you want except for Tyrannids because screw those things.

So. Who likes these ideas? I'm not promising anything right now, not even a game or something, this is just a discussion to see what you guys come up with and what you think about the premise. Maybe later I'll be up for playing these scenes when I get it all written down and junk, and I'll take you guys with me!
