I’m going to say no to the new MacBook Pro
Many of the design choices are likely to add up to user frustration.

I am disappointed with these new machines, and yet I remember the first Macs with USB and the first ones with firewire. Everyone was complaining that their ADB devices and scsi devices were going to have to be replaced.
The trouble is that on the non-touch-bar machine, there are only 2 USB ports and what, 8GB of memory? The highest specs only 16GB? And SSD 256GB? What are they thinking?
As for the touch bar, phhht. A mistake. A stupid mistake.
I've been an avid user of macbooks for the better part of the last decade. The machines have spoiled me with their intuitive touch pads, and convenient keyboards as well as an overall level of build quality that is generally unmatched by any other laptop. But, I will have to agree that I will be sticking with the old macbook pro for as long as I can, and since mine is fairly recent (2014), I think I have at least 3-4 years of usage if not more out of it. Hopefully, Apple will get their shit together by then and figure out how not to insult its core customer base with the crap they are releasing these days.
While I've never used their products,I find this turn of events disappointing. This reminds me of much of the Gnome desktop where they gradually removed all the best bits, causing many Linux users to use a different desktop. Reducing functionality,in my way of thinking,is never a good idea. My computers always look like a snakes nest and the more ports I can get,the happier I am.
I remember when they used to run ads that had a picture of a computer covered in wires (PC) and then theirs that was a sleek looking all in one, now they've gone full squid like the rest of them.
That touch bar, yikes, please don't let anybody else copy that thing.
Apple now need to take a hard look at Microsoft. Their latest offerings are faster, bigger, better designed, better looking and feature for feature kill the Apple product. When is mac notebook going to have a touch screen. Apple owned this space with ipad.
Seriously? Have you seen what Microsoft is doing with Windows 10? Bigger, I'll grant you. Better looking is subjective. But better designed and feature for feature? Windows 10 is barely stable and one bad update away from being a train wreck.
Maybe I'm not pushing it hard enough, but my Windows 10 machine seems pretty stable.
Windows 8 was pretty stable on a lot of people's computers, too. So was Vista. I know people who swore by Windows Millennium.
As someone who has done development in the Windows 10 environment, I cannot describe an operating system that breaks its own core functions after updates to be stable. If you want to run sysprep on a new build for mass deployment, make sure you don't allow upgrades first. Likewise an environment where quality control has regressed to the point that software only has to reach demo mode before it gets shipped.
Microsoft may be getting bolder in its quest for new technologies and features, but sacrificing what little stability it had in the process isn't a smart move. It's no wonder they have to force businesses to abandon Windows 7 by ending support since developers know what unnecessary headaches are in store for them once they commit to upgrading.
Fair enough.
