    From my mom:

You can find a valid excuse for nearly everything, but there is no excuse for being rude. [Paraphrased]

    From my dad:

Life is about open doors. When stuck with a hard decision, choose the option that opens more doors or at least closes the fewest. [Paraphrased]

Honestly, the UI helps and all the convenient features really do promote discussion and sharing but that isn't the sole source of how laid back it is here. I think the community seems to be really dedicated to keeping this place non-toxic and welcoming- I sincerely hope it stays that way.

I share this hope. I really think it will have to come to some form of feature change, however, as the site grows in popularity. Currently there is no way to prevent the mass abuse of the down vote arrow.

Geez. I don't even know where to start. I am not a religious person at all and so my "code," as it were, is not really a specific list of tenets or anything. I'll do my best to make it fit that format.

    1. Be willing to compromise/concede on any point at all times if the evidence supports a differing conclusion

    2. Trust your intellect over your emotions

    3. Sentience is an opportunity for the universe to observe itself, each conscious mind is a part of the universe and should be treated with respect, love, and compassion.

    4. Do your best to make everything better than the way you found it

    5. Bravery is not the absence of fear, it is taking action in spite of it for a noble cause. Be brave.

Not really, or at least not how I see it.

Telekinesis uses the power of your mind to move objects (imagine a giant, invisible, extra arm coming out of your head). To move your entire body off the ground, you would need a force outside of your body to act against it or you would need your telekinesis to act against another reference object to obtain any lift.

I was a teenager. A really really really stupid one. Let's get that out of the way first.

I had enjoyed some psychedelic fungi a few hours before the incident and got into a pissing contest with a friend. He was claiming to have masterful powers over his own pain and proceeded to allow my other friends to punch him while he stood there without wincing. Not wanting to be up-staged and feeling quite invincible myself, I proceeded to extinguish two lit cigarettes on my hand, one after the other without wincing. I did it... and to no one's surprise, I have big, stupid, circular scar on my hand to this day.

The level of dedication and community involvement that the administration has with the community is wonderful here. I can't thank you enough for working so hard to improve and grow this platform. Thanks!

As other users have said, you came to the right place. Welcome!

Just to help you get started, there are lots of things that are different here. For example, the snap system is pretty unique- you would do well to play around with it a bit. Also the use of the down vote here is taken very seriously. Use it to indicate that content violates site rules, is spam, or is not relevant. Do not use it to indicate disagreement or dislike. A good place to get your bearings would be the FAQ and just so you know what to avoid, check out the Site Rules too.

Other than that, glad you came to Snapzu and I look forward to seeing the content that you add to our community!

I know this guy IRL, cool dude.

Anywho, grimesc12, check out the FAQ and the Site rules as this site is different from Reddit and does have a bit of a learning curve. Once you get the hang of it, however, I think you will see how much better it is than most social platforms and how warm and welcoming the community is. Just to echo what another user already said, down votes are used SPARINGLY and I really mean that. Use the down vote to indicate that content violates posting rules, is spam, or is not relevant. Do not use the down vote to indicate dislike or disagreement.

Anywho, I hope you enjoy this place, I know I have.

Sounds pretty awesome! Have you heard of "The Tower of Dread?" It is a really neat RPG tabletop that uses a Jenga tower as a game mechanic... I want to play that some time.

    Excellent! Welcome!

I too came from Reddit, be sure to check out the FAQ and the Site Rules as this site differs from what you may be used to.

This community is warm, welcoming, and very friendly. The attitude here promotes kindness and civil discussion. A good example of this is how the down vote arrow is used. Down voting is reserved for content that violates posting rules, is spam, or is not relevant- it is not a tool to signal dislike/disagreement. The community here does not ignore this rule and takes it very seriously.

I am sure you will love it here, thanks for saying hello!
