Hi Snapzu! I'm really glad to see that right now the snapzu community seems to have mostly - if not only - cool people around. My question is: have you thought about a system that would handle the innevitable trolls or haters that will eventually find their way in this community? (such as report/flag abusive posts and/or comments) Just thinking ahead, like I said, so far everyone has been really awesome. Thanks!

Hi /u/nomadtoltec, and welcome to snapzu! Actually, a system sort of what you're referring to is already in place. This site has a reputation score applied to all members that alongside the leveling system works really well in distinguishing the helpful "nice" users from the trolls. You can read a bit more about the way the system works here. So far it has worked really well, and I'm sure in the future there will be even more things created to keep the trolls at bay. Also, the down vote works really well on trolls, as it lowers their reputation score making them less visible amongst comments and snaps.

How are you guys able to keep this website afloat? There is neither a donate section or advertisements. Is it magic?

    Any plans for a bookmarklet?

    • teamsnapzu (edited 3 years ago)
      +9

Hi vlu77, you can find our bookmarklet option by clicking on the "My Snaps" button in your top navigation bar, it's right next to the "Create Snap" button. Once inside the snap management page, you can see the button just under your tabs. We realize the bookmarklet function isn't exactly in a visible spot, so we plan on fixing that shortly!

Adding to this, you can also read about the bookmarklet function in the release notes located here.

Do you guys have a Mumble server where I could bounce some ideas off of you? I'd really love to share some features that I feel would be great and would help bring snapzu into the "killer app" category.

You can find me on our Mumble server @ our website: http://exinferno.com/ Find me "Sick"

    I'd love to chat!

    About me:

I've used Reddit for almost 8+ years, I currently run an MMO Gaming community with over 250+ active members. We are expanding, growing and I really hate the look and feel and upkeep of PHPBB. I've also founded larger communities such as Themes.org, Linux.com and Sourceforge.net

I don't mind waiting though if features are planned and there is enough support in the short term.

    - SubTribes planned? Ability to separate your tribe into other bits? - Categories? I really want a way to effectively turn Snapzu into a viable replacement for PHPBB and other discussion boards. I know this may not be your intended usage, but if you think outside the box, it could do two things @ once: Provide a replacement to sites like reddit, and provide a replacement for tools like PHPBB.

    Again, I'd love to talk.

That's just it, I looked and looked at the UI and couldn't find out how to actually PM you. :(

          +3

Clicking on the username ("teamsnapzu") above the comment drops you into its feed (http://snapzu.com/teamsnapzu), which has the pm box in the top right.

/t/lounge is also a tribe devoted to the exact purpose you describe.

As an additional note. You have to be following the user to see the "send pm" button.

We do not have any mobile applications at this time, but are certainly planning to release an Android and iOS version sometime in the near future.

What are your plans for the apps? Will they be open source? I'm an iOS developer, I'd love to help out if I can.

How to search keywords on Snapzu and tribes? I searched the term "Facebook" and things came up that had nothing to do with Facebook. How can I search and find better results?

Is there a way to change your username or migrate data from one account to another?

    • drunkenninja

Is there a way to change your username or migrate data from one account to another?

There is no way to change the username of an account once it has been established (this is for continuity purposes, we don't want confusion amongst existing members) and there is no way to migrate an account due to general leveling and reputation concerns. I believe the only way to really make such significant changes is to start a new profile.

"this is for continuity purposes, we don't want confusion amongst existing members"

Welp, I just made my account and there'd be no issues with continuity. I just want it changed to a capital T. Is that possible? D:

Are there any plans to make the site a little less unwelcoming for queer folks? Right off the bat, you have to choose a gender, and there are only two to choose from. That's not cool, and I certainly don't feel comfortable inviting my friends here.

    • drunkenninja
      +5

Hi Kaereste! We will be removing the gender selection functionality from the account creation area all together in the next update, it was meant to select your levelup avatar but we realize now how it may have been misleading for many.

Can you create a private tribe? Over on The Site That Shall Not Be Named there is an option for private communities. I am a licensed attorney who wants to make a haven where only verified attorneys can view/post the content (huge issue for confidentiality purposes, among other reasons). Is this possible? Is this feature forthcoming? Many of us would love an excuse to move this community here, but we can't without a private tribe option!

    • drunkenninja

Hi /u/MajesticAlot, we do not yet have a private tribe option but it is in the plans.

Is there a list of "is in the plans" things? reading this thread I've seen mobile apps, private tribe, and a bunch of other cool things. It'd be neat to see a list with, if I'm not asking too much, progress reports on separate items.

Furthermore - is there or will there ever be any plans into making Snapzu open source?

I haven't seen anything about this so far so I want to ask: Does snapzu have an age requirement?

    • drunkenninja
      +2

Yes, here is a copy and paste from our ToS:

By using the Snapzu service, you are representing and warranting that you are at least 13 years of age. If you are under age 13, you may not, under any circumstances, use Snapzu by any means. You are solely responsible for ensuring that these Terms of Use are in compliance with all the local laws, rules and regulations applicable to you.

Is it, or will it be, possible to create polls?

    • drunkenninja
      +4

Currently we have the ability to create very basic polls by using the "List" module in your snap creation area. We will however be adding a dedicated poll module in the future (We just don't know exactly when as there are so many things that we still need to do!).
