Unfortunately, other SM platforms will make up the slack and those looking to stir the pot will just move their anti banter to those sites.

Commented in Illinois governor pardons 11,000 for low-level marijuana convictions
Toke up and enjoy your freedom. With Illinois becoming the 11th state to legalize recreational marijuana on Jan 1st, this should not be much of a surprise to anyone who has been tracking pot legalization.
-
Commented in Plant-Based Yogurt Is Being Milked For All That It’s Worth

Commented in Is Marijuana as Safe as We Think?
Probably for most of human history, but easily since the Stone Age and the end of the last Ice Age. Funny how we can forget things like that.
-
Commented in US cigarette smoking rate reaches new low
Legal marijuana is going to replace it, from what I understand smoking pot is just as bad and maybe worse for you, and the CDC breaks down its current problems and cites sources for what they claim.
-
Commented in Canada to allow mail-order marijuana sales
Any Canadian who has to travel to the USA should think twice about purchasing pot through the mail, or even in a shop, with a credit or debit card. Card companies WILL give your info to the U.S. and you can be banned for life by U.S. customs for ever using it even if pot is legal in your own country.

Commented in We Cannot Fight Climate Change With Capitalism, Says Report
Straight up, if the public has no education, then it is not a democracy. If it is your view that democracy always turns into demagoguery, that's cool. I'm fine dismissing democracy as mob rule. It's not like conceding that is going to lower property values, there being so very little that is democratic. Take the U.S. Democratic Party for instance, a private club that argues it has no legal obligation to be democratic. Know what else inevitably turns to demagoguery? Everything. Mao, Amin, Pol Pot, Stalin, Nixon — none of these creatures crawled out of the primordial muck of democracy to evolve into what they would become. Still not buying that democracy is responsible for runaway global warming. Why not Russian trolls? Or Antifa? Or Tucker Carlson?

Commented in America’s Invisible Pot Addicts
It is not addictive. They can quit any time they want. They just don't want, amiright? Or maybe they will quit next Monday, right now is just not a good time.
I have a friend who lives with his college mates. They are not in college now but rent a house together (like 4 or 5 people). Says he is the only one of them who does not smoke pot every day.

Commented in Ocasio-Cortez, the GOP's Midterm Boogeyman?
There we differ. To my mind, that rote inability to distinguish between Pol Pot and FDR leaves conservatives open to haymakers. Conservatives like, you know, Clinton and Pence.
-
Commented in Hardcore Hitler on Hitler in Helsinki
Better than the unique view counts, better than the edition saves... there it is: the reflexive, unknowing, unstinting downvote!
Consider how better to know if one's had any effect in this world than that proof positive someone's had a reaction, however autonomic, reassuringly reflexive and blissfully mindless. Let people that compose sentences worry about the commenting and reading and understanding, all the egghead stuff.
Me? Give me that pot-calling-the-kettle-a-fascist, ever-loving everyman true-believer's lizard brain tongue-flick of a downvote — cast without having made it to the start of the first paragraph of course — every time for consolation that when I go to my reward, I'll have heresied against their dogma, blasphemed against their rote trigger:response zero-sum vote manipulation daze, and shaken my fist in anger somewhat less impotent for having done it.
Their vapidity is why tears like those are considered such a delicacy.

Commented in PM presents 'conclusive proof' Iran lied 'big time' about nuclear weapons program
Netanyahu claiming Iran was illegally developing nuclear weapons? Old news but also the pot calling the kettle black? Israel has developed the bomb illegally and has never admitted it.

-
Commented in Kiss the good times goodbye: 'Everyone will have 5 years to get their car off the road or sell it for scrap'
The author is certainly a credible opinion, and the analogies to horses fair, but the infrastructure to do this is huge, just thinking about the carrier train concept. Imagine the resources needed to accomplish that system. There's not even enough money to fix the pot holes in the infrastructure now. Anyway, I'd look to China to be pioneering this, not the US. They have the money (for now), the population that would accept this quickly and they don't have a democratic/legal/rights system that gets in the way of "progress"
-
