I hate articles like this where the writer says bla bla will happen. Just wait five years and you will see none of this has happened. They are as annoying as the end of the world religious ninnies.
Reading the article will be a real surprise for you then.
The author is certainly a credible opinion, and the analogies to horses fair, but the infrastructure to do this is huge, just thinking about the carrier train concept. Imagine the resources needed to accomplish that system. There's not even enough money to fix the pot holes in the infrastructure now. Anyway, I'd look to China to be pioneering this, not the US. They have the money (for now), the population that would accept this quickly and they don't have a democratic/legal/rights system that gets in the way of "progress"
