More scientists doubt salt is as bad for you as the government says
For years, the federal government has advised Americans that they are eating too much salt, and that this excess contributes yearly to the deaths of tens of thousands of people. But unknown to many shoppers urged to buy foods that are “low sodium” and “low salt,” this longstanding warning has come under assault by scientists who say that typical American salt consumption is without risk. Moreover, according to studies published in recent years by pillars of the medical community...

They have reduced the salt so much in pork rinds, they taste terrible,so I add it back in. The same for butter.
I personally always add additional salt to things I like more salty, of course not everything but my meats / salads and home made soups for example.
I rarely ever add salt to anything, but have found other ways to add to the taste of a food. Salt intake for years has been high in processed foods in western cultures, you do not need to add any if you eat this stuff. If you have have high blood pressure you should check with your doctor before increasing salt intake. Salt intake like sugar intake, too much of one thing cannot be good. Moderation is the key as always!
Agreed, junk food in general has way too much salt and those who add even more need to get their taste buds checked out :)
I make my own soup and if I have my own broth I will add some salt, but if I use store broth I do not add salt. There is enough salt in the store bought broth I feel I don't need anymore. I will add other spices or herbs to add to the taste.
I do the exact same thing, sometimes I just don't have the time to make a soup broth from scratch in that case there is no additional salt necessary. Extra spices / herbs are an absolute must, if only people knew how amazing soups can be if the proper spices are used :)
/u/drunkenninja if you find anymore links on this(I will do the same) please post them. I wonder about salt intake as much as I do sugar intake. I see the article says the study was not funded by anyone in the salt industry and so it is more believable to me,but I am not convinced yet!
Will do! Everything I find on the subject I will post as RLs in this snap.
Makes one ponder,......just what constitutes "science"?
