Cattle have their place, but I have had an interesting cow herd experience that went ok but could have gone wrong quickly.

the bullet points of it is this

drove 15 hours to CO to camp

found campsite and set up camp

it was awesome

hiked all day & came back to camp

get fire going and dinner started

~80 cows show up like 'sup? we're here to shit in your nice babbling brook.'

wife tries to chase them off with Xterra while I finish dinner

Xterra gets high-centered on a boulder at some point

cows are gone for 20-30 minutes

cows come back while I'm digging a cavern under the boulder

yelling doesn't work

I figured out which one was the leader and threw a baseball sized rock that hit him right between the eyes

he looked at me for a minute and turned around

the rest of the cows followed him

a few hours later, after dark, we heard them going up the hill through the woods away from the road so we let them be
