Not a board game, exactly, and certainly NSFW, but for madcap laughs, gotta go with Cards Against Humanity!,

It's evil Apples to Apples and it's hilarious. I like inventing new cards. :)

CaH is an amazing game. If you have a thick enough skin, and happen to have enough asshole friends, then it's an amazing experience.

Me and the wife have board game nights from time to time with the friends. After a few rounds of other games, we break out CaH and have a blast. So far we have all the expansions. Be sure to pick up Crabs Adjust Humidity, too. They're pretty great, too.

Haven't played CaH, but I'm considering ordering it. Looks like a ton of fun.

Oh man, some of the funnest, and funniest times of my life have been fueled by CAH. I highly recommend it!

Personally, I'd recommend Pandemic! It's not too expensive, very fun, and has a few, pretty cool expansions.

If you're looking to get deeper into board games than the ones you typically see Settlers of Catan is probably the best place to start. I'd also recommend King of Tokyo and Epic Spell Wars.

If you enjoy German-style board games, I also recommend Small World.

*edit: forgot about Carcassone, that one is good too!

    Definitely Balderdash. Always great times.

Ah yes, the self proclaimed "bluffing game". I played it hammered at a friends house but I sucked. Pro tip: don't play if you have a thick accent.

I really liked Settlers of Catan after I played it. Initially it didn't interest me, but the more I play it the more I like it. Even bought the expansion.

It gets better and better the more people you have playing Catan, and the larger you can make the map.

Scrabble & Monopoly definitely. I always enjoyed Risk too.

A lot of board games are worth the money to someone, but it really depends on what you are looking for. If you're looking for a social game I recommend The Resistance

    Cooperative: Forbidden Island

    2-Player: Rivals for Catan

I could go on, but it really comes down to a question of what you're looking for out of a board game

I heard a lot of good things about Rivals of Catan. I might actually grab that.

Betrayal at house on the hill is a really great game, you play as a team at first exploring a haunted house and as the game goes on weird things began to happen in the form of omens, you are also able to collect various items which might come in handy once the haunt begins. The haunt is triggered when a certain number of omens have occurred, during the haunt one of the players will become the traitor who will than began to terrorize the other plays. The rest of the players have to try and kill the traitor before he kills them.

Go is my favorite boardgame. You can learn to play in minutes, but takes a decades to get decent.

The right answer is the ones that you can get your friends to play, and how heavy of a game everyone wants. One of the best value lighter games I've bought is Ticket to RIde

Another game that isn't a board but rather a card game is Superfight!. It's not as potentially soul-crushing as Cards Against Humanity (usually), but it's still very fun and stokes debate.

At my place the most played have been Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride. Easy to learn and lots of fun. Then there is Cards Against Humanity. Another popular one is Ascension. Also easy to learn and a lot of fun. They have a lot of different sets since they seem to update and come out with new versions every year. If you don't mind putting up a bit of money Cyclades is great.

A deck of regular playing cards and you got all the games in the world.

If you have time and a few of people to play with get a nice RISK set. Many hours gone trying to conquer the world.

I really enjoy roll for the galaxy. It is simple enough that most people can learn to play within 30-45 mins, but still has the depth a game like Settlers of Catan has. Plus, there is like 50 (sorry, 111) dice that come with the game, and who doesn't like rolling a ton of dice?

Careers is by far my favorite board game. I was introduced to it as a kid when I went on an adventure through my grandmother's attic and found it at the bottom of a stack of boxes. I don't think it's in production anymore, so you would probably have to buy a used set, but I've found it to be an absolute blast. Its essentially a more balanced, quicker version of Monopoly.
