Are you a dog or cat person? Why?

I'm much more of a dog person. They love me no matter what, they can go outside with me, and they are great on my hikes. My wifes two cats on the other hand just like to lay in my damn chair. Then they won't get up when I need to sit down the little bastards.

Both. I get along with most pets, my neighbors' little rat dogs being the exception, but they don't like anybody.

Yeah my neighbors have a little chihuahua that I can't stand. I call him little Satan. It's more of the fact that they leave him on the back porch all night which is about 10 feet from my bedroom window. He yaps at anything that moves during the night which can be constantly due to the stray cats that are all over the neighborhood.

I agree. Chihuahua's are known for being a one person dog which leads to a lot of their issues. Plus little dog complex lol. The yapping is a big thing with little dogs as well although my beagle can whine and bark like no other when there are stray cats or other small animals around.

If a little dog knows you from a young age, it's great. If it doesnt, it's just annoying. My neighbor's dogs wander into my yard all the time, bit I've never gotten closer than 10 feet from one of them. It's like they have radar.

I used to say I was a dog person. I still probably am because they love me know matter what and I can pet dogs at anytime without being bit. However, we got a kitty first as we were in a tiny apartment and she totally changed my mind on what a cat could be like. She is sweet and affectionate and will never bite me when I pet her. Therefore both? I guess it depends on the animal.

Totally the same for me. All my life I grew up with dogs, always said I was a dog person and never really knew anyone with cats. Then when I moved into my own place it was on the smaller side and I work long shifts so decided to get two little terror kittens instead of a puppy. Wow I am definitely a cat person now although I still love dogs but these two have swayed me completely. I mean I hate them at times they are truly out to ruin my life but when they are nice they are so cute and cuddly and affectionate, something I didn't expect from cats to be honest.

Probably both. We had a lot of dogs and cats while I was growing up. So, I really have a difficult time choosing sides on this one. It's like Linux vs Windows vs Mac a personal preference.

Cat person. Always have been. I have an asshole cat right now. Einstein is his name and he's, depending on the moment, either a genius or a complete idiot. Also likes my husband more than me and he's my darn cat.

I guess right now I'm a dog person, but only because my best bud Kicker (the cat) passed away. Now I only have two dogs.

I know it's a surprise considering the username but I am a total cat person. I had 2 dogs growing up but mainly we've always had cats so that's what I'm used to. I've been thinking that I might enjoy the company of a dog these days but I would have to find a cat-friendly one.

Generally if you get a puppy while you have cats, it learns very quickly how to behave around the cats. The cats are very good teachers with their claws :P

I'm not really a dog person because I don't like the idea of an animal being so emotionally dependent on me. Having a cat is more like having a roommate. You hang out when you want to and it's no big deal if you don't. To me it seems like their affection is more genuine that way. Plus, you don't have to potty train them and If you're away all day, a cat is less likely to completely lose its mind.

Dogs are too high maintenance for me. My cats can be pushy when they want attention, but I can leave them at home for a weekend and come back without the place being trashed. Plus, stroking a cat's fur while it sits on your lap will always be more stylish than petting a dog.

I prefer the unconditional love and playfulness of dogs, but they also irritate me more than cats by being loud and pooping wherever they want. Either way, I'm allergic to furry animals, so my affection only causes me pain. :(

I enjoy the company of cats more, I think I know how to treat them slightly more than the average person, and I honestly don't find dogs as cute or cuddly as cats. I guess I would say a dog is a companion, a cat is the thing I go to when I want to relax.

I like cats more. I don't really like how much dogs bark, and in my experience their fur isn't as soft or nice to pet

Always had dogs, still have dogs, and forever will have dogs. I've grown to like cats more, but I would still like a cat that has dog-like qualities. Dog-cats. My dog is already a cat-dog (Bringing in dead things, playing with insects in the house...), so now I need a dog-cat.

That being said, I probably like birds more than cats, which is another complication. My bird would not approve of me bringing that into the house.

Edit: A now my dog likes to hit my keyboard like a cat. Fantastic...
