Dogs are too high maintenance for me. My cats can be pushy when they want attention, but I can leave them at home for a weekend and come back without the place being trashed. Plus, stroking a cat's fur while it sits on your lap will always be more stylish than petting a dog.
It depends on what you feed them. Cats can smell really bad if you feed them the cheap stuff or too much canned wet food. My Lady taught me that, and she learned it from working in pet stores.
It is not! They use less filler than most of the more popular commercial brands, but still a higher percentage than people realize. "Filler" being the material used to increase the weight of the product without actually providing nutritional value. We buy Blue Buffalo for our cats which is all dried meat and vegetable with no filler. At around $25 per 20-lb bag it's a lot more expensive than Science Diet but the effect it's had on our cats' health was almost immediately noticeable. And their litter boxes don't smell as bad, either.
