Commented in How To Beat Blank Page Syndrome For Good
He can't think at his desk, so he changes scenery. That is great advice. When stuck, mix things up, especially your physical setting. Grab your laptop and go somewhere else. Take a show (I do my best thinking in the shower). Go for a walk. Tickle the cat. Grab your kayak.

Commented in No title by Martinus
For many years I am collecting macro photos of insects (all digital, of course). From that large heap of images I select the ones that affect me the most at that moment. Colour, pose, scenery, it really depends on what I want to make. Then I take that photo and start painting. I always start with the goal of "as real as fuck", but somehow little graffiti elements or coffee-infused colourchoices appear. :-) I also made several "diy-insects", where I just start to draw or paint and a non-excistent new species appears. :-) My mutant army. Yeah. :-) And all that work is merely an excercise, a preparation for a bigger project. :-)

Commented in [Discussion] What Anime have the best/most unique art styles?
Katanagatari's got a pretty cool art style. I'm not sure how to describe it, it feels a bit "flat". Some character designs of the maniwa in particular are really nice.
I also like the scenery in most shows made by shaft. They tend to use a lot of geometric shapes and patterns in the architecture of buildings. Monogatari, mekakucity actors, nisekoi and madoka.

Commented in Google Self-Driving Car Involved in First Injury Accident
I can see where you're coming from, but there's also a much larger degree of risk involved in being behind the wheel of a car and in control. As I said in another comment "The world health organization claims that approximately 1.24 million road traffic related deaths occur every year, with between 20 to 50 million more people suffering non-fatal injuries". And it's not like, in being behind the wheel and in control of the car, you're the only one who's at a higher risk. It puts other road users in more danger too. Is it fair to have more people die or become injured so that some people can enjoy the romance of being behind the wheel of a car? I think one fairer solution is to have tracks or designated zones for manual driving. Like take a nice stretch of road along the coast and put it aside for manual use, for example; let people drive manually and enjoy the scenery and the feeling of being in control of their car. That way, everyone who uses that dedicated zone has accepted the risks and some poor sod who wants to be as safe as possible in their self driving car doesn't get wiped out by user error in the name of preserving the romance of manual driving.

Commented in The Latest Google Algorithm Creates Video Based On a Few Still Images
That's a really cool thought. All I could think about is taking virtual road trips on google maps. I love car rides and the scenery. Imagine putting this on a big screen and enjoying something like route 66 or a trip through the mountains.

Commented in 10 Things That Could Wipe Out Life On Earth
I know what you mean. I feel like that too sometimes. But what I'm talking about is expanding that out to realising that one day NONE of this will exist. So even if your body somehow magically had the ability to live "forever", you won't be able to because the planet will get destroyed eventually. So really you don't have to worry about what people think of you or whether you really make the most of your life. I'm not sure how well I'm explaining this though :-)
But also, once you no longer exist, you won't know you don't exist. You didn't know you weren't born before you were born. Heck, even once you WERE born you didn't know you were born for the first couple of years. In the end you've lost nothing. Just give life a shot and do what you can.
I like the thought that we can't take any of this with us. There's no use being the richest person in the graveyard. I find that comforting, and also a good concept to get perspective on life's priorities. We all begin and end the same way. All paths eventually reach the same destination. Just don't forget to admire the scenery along the way.

Just go for a damn walk. You get better scenery, sunlight, fresh air and can socialize. These are pointless.
