What a lot of people don't realize is that McDonald's isn't just a burger company. It is a real estate company that just happens to sell burgers. Wished I could find the quote, but it went something like...

If McDonalds quick selling burgers tomorrow, it would last for another 150 years just trading real estate holdings

McD's is titanic. They have stores in prime locations across the US and in lots of places across the world. Sure, they might have a bumpy ride with food sales from time to time, but they're nowhere near out of the game.

Yeah, they are far too diversified with other business to just die off. However, I think that if they are not careful with their food offerings and continue to decline in that, they may be facing some serious competition.

And in the United States, sales are falling because of increased competition.

And not just that either. There has been a burgeoning real food movement that has taken root as well. MC Donald's is seen as cheap, processed sudo- food which should be avoided. That being said,I doubt they are going to vanish in our lifetimes.

Far from "dying". Sales were eventually bound to fall, they have saturated the market here in the U.S. As long as Ronald is a recognizable icon to children they cement future sales.
