Seattle Bans Throwing Food Away in Trash
Seattle residents can no longer throw food away in their garbage due to a new law that went into effect Jan. 1. Families can be fined $1 on their garbage bill for putting “food-contaminated cardboard” in their trashcan, as a result of the compost mandate.

wow. Bias much? 74 percent of voting taxpayers think it's a good idea. While I think it's sort of a silly idea, it's their city.
Hell, KC has successfully voted for light rail more than once, only to have the the city council sit on it and do nothing about it. Looks like they're kicking off a 'starter line' in May. Finally.
How do you even enforce this?

They can't. But good luck to them.
As long as there is risk of not getting your garbage picked up, it may work, not 100% but most people will follow these new rules.
