He "feels fine" because he does not know how "fine" feels. The human body and psyche do a superb job of glossing over things and allow us to operate in non-optimal situations and even consider them "normal" if we do it for long enough.

Case in point, 5 years ago I went to the doctor's for a couple of small unrelated ailments. After a handful of questions, I was hospitalized with tachycardia. One hot heart doctor and 5 expensive prescriptions later, I now know what "fine" feels like. I never realized how sluggish and tired I was every day, how my poor diet and lack of aerobic exercise contributed to it. The slimmer, healthier idlethreat still feels "fine". But it's a new "fine".

Yeah, dude needs to eat actual food and get some exercise in. It's amazing he hasn't gotten a severe vitamin deficiency yet.

I totally agree with you idlethreat. I had cardicac issues too, as well as high blood pressure. To top it off, I smoked. I thought I felt OK, but after surgery, quitting smoking, getting my BP under control, and changing my caffine intake, I now feel better than I ever did or knew I could. It is incouraging that this guy is seeing a therapist. I hope he can break his food aversion. It can be difficult to stay healthy on a "normal" vegetarian diet, and impossible on his diet.

Two of my siblings engage in this behavior and it is terribly heart-wrenching.

I have a friend that eats nothing but potatoes, corn (off the cob type) and Salisbury steak type meats, he sticks specifically to certain types of foods and will not touch anything else. I feel bad for him, because there is so many great foods out there that we can eat...

Do you like to cook at all? God, no. My cooking consists of the microwave oven. I never really understood cooking. You put so much time, energy, and expense into it, and then you eat it, and it’s gone.

But pizza is forever ! (and tastier than diamonds)
