Porsche to block work-related emails between 7pm and 6am
Uwe Huck, the head of Porsche works council and deputy chairman of its supervisory board told DPA (a news agency) that any work-related emails between 7pm and 6am should be returned to sender, because they imply a stressful unpaid working time. This opinion has also been confirmed by Kai Bliesener, the spokesman of the car-maker’s works council, who said: “I’m sure this will be part of the new contract negotiated next year with management”.

Andrew Sullivan: It’s Time to Resist the Excesses of #MeToo
Honor complexity. Make meaningful distinctions between offenses. Defend due process, privacy, and sex itself. A month or so ago, a friend and I mulled over when exactly the backlash to the then-peaking #MeToo moral panic would set in. Mid-January, we guessed, and sure enough here we are.

Millions of German workers are winning the fight for a 28-hour work week. Massive study finds that a sizeable minority of us are in jobs that don’t fit our primary occupational interests
In theory, our personal traits and interests should affect the jobs we pursue and where we thrive the most. This assumption is baked into the Work Psychology theory of “person-environment fit” and it’s an idea that is foundational to services we depend on like vocational guidance and career planning. But one of its key implications has until now been untested: that people who share the same job role will also have similar job interests. Now a surprising new study in the Journal of Vocational Behavior suggests that for many jobs, this simply isn’t true.

I know why rejection emails suck. I write them.
In this employee-friendly market, lots of things about the hiring process have changed to accommodate candidates. But companies don’t seem interested in the goodwill they could earn by giving honest, individual feedback.
