All time? Probably WoW. I've been playing the game for almost a decade now, off and on.

For short bursts? Civ 5. Every few months I'll pick it up and lose a week of my life to it. I'll sit down one evening for a nice game of Civilization, and next thing I know the sun is coming up. Angband is the same way for me. I'll pick it up, play like crazy for a couple days, die, then not touch the game again for months or years.

I also lost essentially an entire summer play Runescape in the early 2000's. I seem to remember doing the math that I spent something like 600 hours that summer farming lobsters, or something like that.

When I was younger I played a lot more games, but now I do it to relieve stress or when I have some free time on my hands and just want to forget about the world!

    1. World of Warcraft
    2. Diablo 1, 2 and 3
    3. The Elder Scrolls games all the way from Morrowind and into Skyrim
    4. Fallout Series

I'm a big fan of the RPG games.

I have logged a lot of time into Fallout 3 and have never finished the game.

Borderlands 2, followed closely by Skyrim and Fallout 3/NV.

I think for me it's the Gears of War series, probably spending the most time on GoW 2. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but I love those games so much, and can spend hours upon hours playing the multiplayer.

The Monster Hunter series. I usually log somewhere between 100 and 400 hours per installment, and I'm on the 8th iteration since I started playing back in 2006.

End of primary school, played some game called Nexus TK, played on the defunct french server and the subsequent Nexus Exile. I have yet to find somebody who played that game, haha! In high school, spent countless hours in Counter Strike : Source. 4-5 hours a day, 5 to 7 days a week, for a good year and a half... That was unhealthy, but hey, first love... More recently (and to a lower order of magnitude), the Mass Effect series : I'm on to my... fourth (?) playthrough of the trilogy right now, but finished ME2 five or six times, three times with all the story DLCs. Space operas are my downfall.

Most ever: WoW. Probably way over 2000 hours. It's been several years since I've played it though, last time was probably somewhere around when burning crusade was the latest expansion.

After that I haven't really been able to get interested in any other MMORPG. They all feel so much the same.

Have you played Guild Wars 2? I'll admit I know nothing about MMORPGs, but a good friend who is into the genre has been raving about it recently as breaking the mold in a very good way. Curious about other opinions of it, especially from someone who's logged so many hours in WoW.

I know my play hours aren't astronomical like others, but it would be 300+ hours in the Mass Effect franchise and 150+ in Borderlands as by far my top two. I've played quite a lot of different games over the years (still working on that steam backlog...), but I must say nothing compares to ME in my mind. I mean, the gameplay can be awkward, the level design can be linear, and the story sometimes full of cliches, but goddamn if I don't get invested it with every playthrough. There's something about the world they created that feels so alive that I haven't gotten from any other game. I'm sure others will disagree, but that's my $.02.

Ditto on Mass Effect. I agree with your points on the cliche plot. I think two things made the game shine for me. First, the writing and voice acting were superb. Second, the game was masterful at setting a tone. The tension, romance, the quick unexpected interjections of humor, despair, elation. The game was the very definition of a feel trip.

Roughly 50 days into Destiny over the last year. Basically, the only thing I've played. Been waiting on games that interest me to come out on Xbox One. Had to purchase a second tv and Xbox for my SO to play on. We are now at a grand total of 3 in the living room. Working from home probably didn't help the addiction at all.

Of all time? World of Warcraft. Started in Vanilla and even though I've taken many breaks (currently on one), I've played all the expansions. I was hardcore addicted and did serious raiding up till mid BC. So much time.. Prior to that it was Runescape (I have a thing for MMOs). Spent so much of middle school on that game.

Recently? Rocket League. That game is too much fun.

According to my steam stats: APB. While it's a fun game and I put plenty of time into it, I definitely did not play for >800 hours. I had a problem where Steam would think I was still on it even after I closed out.

World of Warcraft was a real time killer. My main had way more than a year played when I finally broke my addiction to that evil, evil game! My name is a7h13f, and I've been WoW-free for nearly 5 years now.

When I've gone back for the last few expansions, I've managed to greatly reduce how much time I spend on it XD Looking forward to the new expac that just got announced!

The only one I have actual hours logged on is garrys mod (about 1600 hours), but probably second to that is Minecraft. Not sure how many I've dumped into it but probably at least over 1000.

World of Warcraft, a few years ago I lived in that game. Most of my friends where there and in the same guild. From late vanilla to early Cataclysm we were always logged on and together. Some people probably think of it as a waste but I gained friends for life and had a wonderful time. Some of my most memorable moments happened in that game.

Well over a year total time played, if not over two. And I miss those times.

    1. World of Warcraft - I have over 300 days played across all my characters.

    2. Skyrim - Played over 700 hours in that game. (modded)

    3. Minecraft - Server play vanilla and Modded, possibly more time than skyrim.

Outside of those three, most other games only get a passing glance, more than half the games in my library are unfinished.

Skyrim. I have recently added another 100 hours or so to my play time when I actually started to understand the options that modding gives to a game like Skyrim.

Easily Minecraft, my friends and I have spent countless hours playing this until 2 in the morning. There's always just one more thing to do.

Pokemon. I've spent thousands of hours on the games in the past 13 years.

For a single game, probably League of Legends. I've got an estimated 680 hours on that game on my main, and that's just the account I started in 2014 because I lost my previous login. I have several other accounts I started since 2011.

    Dota 2 (2700hrs)
    Skyrim (500hrs)

Then Unreal Tournament 1999 is either between them or above Dota. Don't honestly know, been too long, but I played the game for around 5 years, including amateur tournaments.
