I like ads because they are a great way to monetize things that you otherwise couldn't. I prefer to donate to sites I like to use, but not everyone will do that, and if a site gets a lot of traffic, ads can bring in a lot of extra revenue. Reddit has Reddit Gold, for example, but still has ads as a way to monetize lurkers and very occasional users. I would probably not block ads on Snapzu unless they were flashy, obtrusive, noisy, or pop-ups. Pop-ups are an instant block from me - sound too - but in general, I like to let a site passively make money off of my traffic.

Food Fight was the first thing that came to my mind too. It's like someone saw Toy Story and thought they could just use real products and make a quick buck on advertising. Unfortunately what they didn't realize is that you have to also make a decent movie.

I mean, I guess the video was at least accurate as to what a Marlboro battle is usually like.... but I would have liked to see some menus or something. Maybe a round or two of combat before the inevitable game over.

    Oh man, plenty.

    - Pretty much any Coheed and Cambria album (Second Stage Turbine Blade and In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 for sure)

    - Pretty much any System of a Down album (System of a Down, Hypnotize, and Mesmerize if not all of them)

    - Pretty much any Pink Floyd album (Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Wish You Were Here)

    - Muse - Origin of Symmetry

    - Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil

    - Atreyu - The Curse

    - Flobots - Fight With Tools

    - Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.E.

Plus some older ones that I dont listen to much anymore and a few that nobody has probably ever heard of.

The Monster Hunter series. I usually log somewhere between 100 and 400 hours per installment, and I'm on the 8th iteration since I started playing back in 2006.

Wow, this is awesome. Good for everyone involved. It's obvious they are all really passionate about this. I really hope they get the show they want. Dave Grohl seems like such a chill dude. I doubt he could turn them down.

Definitely a good point, but in the almost 40 years since the original film came out, there hasnt been a single live-action Star Wars TV show. Seems like a huge miss., so it's nice to see it's finally happening.

Very cool. Anyone know which games it features? It mentions LoL on the page, which is fine, but what about DotA2 or HotS? Or what about Street Fighter or Smash Bros, or hell even Rocket League? I know those communities aren't as big, but some big, all-encompassing eSports app is just the kind of thing to get people interested.

There is an awful lot of speculation in there, but it's interesting to think about. The article makes a lot of good points about "the Nintendo way" and it's exciting. I'm sad to see that the Wii U never took off because I think they had something there. Using a separate touch-screen device as your primary controller opens up a whole lot of doors and that might be what the author of this article is forecasting for the NX. Only instead of a simple "tablet" Nintendo might shoot for something more along the AR/VR lines. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

If you've never played this game now is absolutely the time. Steam is running a sale and the game will be worth every penny of what you pay for it. My wife and I have dumped hours into this game getting 100%, all of the different endings, and checking out the huge amount of easter eggs. The game is like Portal crossed with Myst with puzzles that put both of them to shame. Highly recommended.

Honestly, gaming journalism is a relic of an older time. When we were getting monthly subscriptions to Nintendo Power, EGM, GamePro, or whatever else it was because information like that was hard to come by. Nowadays people get their information about games from let's play videos, streams, walkthroughs, and user submitted content on sites like snapzu. Meanwhile ads are a constant threat on the internet. They aren't just annoying. Sometimes they are downright dangerous and it's a shame because ads lets people monetize things online that they otherwise couldn't. It's too bad, but untrustworthy individuals and companies have made it so that users don't want ads. Look at Netflix for example. No ads at all, but it still manages to rake in dough by just offering something that consumers want. The guy in this article sounds ridiculous comparing adblock whitelists to piracy. He sounds like he's just trying to stir up trouble by using buzzwords that get people in a tizzy. Am I supposed to feel bad for advertisers? I do think it's too bad for content creators, but if you have something of value, people will pay for it one way or another. You can't try and cast shame and doubt on adblockers and call them blackmailers or pirates just because people don't want to put up with garbage on the internet. He even goes so far as to blame users for not understanding that what game journalists do comes at a cost. I think he will be sad to learn that gamers will get along just fine without sites like IGN. Honestly, a lot of us have been for a very long time. I'm sure there are advertising solutions out there that benefit both creators and consumers, but vilifying adblock is not going to get you what you want.
