Ok snapzites, what is something you "collect"?

I collect shells and sand from the beaches of the places I visit. Been doing it for years and now have over 30 jars of sand and over 120 different shells. The rule I have is the sand has to be pure so I sift it before I jar it and the shells need to be undamaged.

I pick wild mushrooms from our luscious BC forests in the fall. I then proceed to choose the nicest looking varieties, clean them and cut them into multiple slices to show off their profile and then dry them using a technique I learned from my grandma. Once dried I will label them and stick them into different pouches, I have over 60 different wild mushroom species now. Also, I only collect the edible ones, and thus far I haven't eaten the ones I have in my collection, although every season I dry a lot more for personal use.

They really need to invent a machine so I can smell stuff through the Internet.

This would be the new rickroll. People who put links and say, "ohh I just cooked the most amazing cake, it smells delicious! Have a sniff" Nope, poop smell.

Btw my boyfriend just walked in and is asking why I'm looking at a picture of a "giant turd". Oops.

Lego. Started at 10. Have a bucket full of those little men. They have their own names and personalities (at least the old ones did). The first one I had is named "The Captain" and he's the leader of them, and he has a superhero squad with Green Man and Red Girl. Together they were fighting the menace of Dark Man and Medieval Man (who sometimes became a good character - he was wielding a spear and had a bearded face). I'm crazy, I know.

Seeds...If I find an interesting plant, I'll snatch some of it's seeds and toss them in the yard. Some grow, most don't,but it's the wondering which will grow that's the nice bit.

Movie posters. Also random shit that goes on my desk, usually because it looks cool, but also I like having short 'stories' for all of them (i.e. I bought this from some sketch market when I want to City A). Typically whenever I travel to a city I've never been to before I'll get something.

I can only imagine how crowded your desk must look.

Haha, I can take a picture when I get home if you want. Most of the stuff I get is usually small so it's not too hard to find space. Although it's starting to get a bit cramped now.

Here you go! There are a few things missing, and one or two things I didn't get while travelling, but that should be most of it :)

Comics. I love pulpy sci-fi comics that I can read while really stoned, and admire the hazy art, beautiful women, and sci-fi and horror tales they read. I have a massive collection of Heavy Metal from the 1970's on, a giant collection of Vampirella, Lady Death, Razor, Dawn, and just about every other comic I can find with beautiful women on the cover. I'm not even ashamed, I love that shit.

Also, video games. I have well over 1000 on steam, a ton on GoG, Origin, and then we have every console as well.

I used to collect butterflies. I'd spend hours admiring the delicate structure of their wings and their beautiful colors. Then I'd roll them into a ball and put them in my pocket. Turned out my collection was worthless.

Make sure you don't list where you took the sand from because in some places that may be illegal.

I collect knives. I haven't counted and I don't have them displayed or anything, but I have approx. 10 folding knives and 7-10 fixed blade knives. I have 2 fixed and 3 folders that consistently see the most use.

How would they catch you though? As in, how can they prove where you really took it from?

If I went online and said I got some sand from _______ beach in _________ that might be substantial evidence. I doubt they would care that much though.

I thought about it many times, it's an addiction made worse by my compulsion to do so. I can't stop.
Is there something about the knives you like? Design? or just anything you fancy at the time?

Knives are useful tools. I like to obtain high quality knives, use them for a season, then obtain a new high quality knife. Since I work construction I tell myself that after every construction season, I get one new knife. I go to a few local knife shops, peruse both the factory and hand made knives, and pick out a favorite knife that is reasonably priced. Then I take it home and look at how pretty it is and carry it around in my backpack or pocket. If it's lunch time and I need a knife to slice cheese or spread condiments I use my knife and then clean it. If I get some mail or a package, I use my knife. If I am out camping and need to start a campfire, I'll make some shavings using my knife. Also, if I go to a steak restaurant, I use my knife, not the dull restaurant knife.

I don't do anything fancy like skin animals, baton wood, or murder people with my knives, I just use them for every day tasks.

I collect shot glasses if I'm visiting another country. I try to keep it in the same style as well, so they all match more or less.

I love collecting old school games and consoles. It can be an expensive hobby but the main reason I do it is to have a collection that I can use on a daily basis...is there a tribe for people like me?

UPDATE: I just made said tribe! /t/gamecollecting if you're interested.

Fridge magnets. Every time I hit a new state, city, or country I try and find the most interesting magnet. They tend to be pretty easy to find anywhere you go, and I am constantly reminded of all the little memories associated with those places when I open the fridge.

old video games and consoles from around the world. Started off with a domestic collection with the usual nintendo and sega consoles, and then it expanded into Japanese consoles such as the Super Famicom and Sega Saturn. I will soon be adding a Brazilian Master System, and a Russian Dendi (NES/Famiclone) to the collection.

    Computer wallpapers!

I have a pretty big wallpaper folder on my computer, and my desktop cycles through them. It's really cool.

I wouldn't quite call myself an amiibo collector, but I definitely own WAY more than I originally expected to. 13 and counting, only thought I would get 3, max 4.

I'd never really thought about it until now, but I don't collect anything! I should start collecting something, I feel like I'm missing out.
