    Gasoline in the US. Ever since Bush talked Congress into slashing the federal tax on gas consumption the price of gas has been a lot lower than it should be and they won't even think about raising it again. This is forcing states to raise taxes on gas to make up for the budgetary shortfall in their transportation maintenance budgets.

      We have intensely taxed gasoline in BC and it's terrible on the wallet, but good for the economy and transportation maintenance I guess.

        There's a reason why every industrialized nation (and many third world nations!) have better public transportation than the US. The US really focuses on having your own personal vehicle for transportation. There are a lot of places where if you didn't drive there they don't want to see you.
