What is something that you should never buy used?

I don't think there is a politician that isn't used.
Other than the obvious stuff like condoms, tampons, etc... I would say a mattress. Sure you can buy used, but you never know what it's been through.
Check it first for stains...
Never buy a car from a rental company. It may be cheap but I can guarantee you that it has had the crap kicked out of it.
Knickers. Bras are OK, but not knickers, even if they look spotless :)
Underwear, sports equipment, tooth brush or any hygiene products for that matter, oh and headphones.
i would disagree with sports equipment, there are plenty of reliable second hand sports equipment that you would have no trouble with
A parachute
Why is that?
If I'm going to jump out of a plane (I'm not planning this any time soon) I'd want the newest best technology you can buy.
Yes, but since that normally happens through parachute school you get to use one of theirs when learning, so...
That's true, but at least you can be somewhat assured that the gear is maintained well by the school.
"Somewhat". Indeedy. :)
What about fabrication defects that would have been found by the first user the hard way?
Hypodermic needles are probably a bad idea.
