I'm looking for constructive things to do or learn while watching TV!
Online turn based games, including stuff like poker.
Wiifit. I kid you not. The Free Step exercise goes for 20 minutes. Pretty much the duration of a standard comedy. Binge watch and reset / rest / drink between shows.
How do you play Wiifit if you're using the TV already?
It should be on the AV channel (or what ever adaptor you use). The Wii controller plays a sound for each step you need to take to keep you in rhythm. Since you are just stepping up onto the board and off again, you don't need to visually see the screen allowing you to keep stepping while watching TV.
That's an excellent idea. I do practice yoga regularly, but that exercise isn't very conducive to paying attention to other things haha
Note to self: get WiiFit
Its actually good, we did this for a while in prep for one Japan trip (since we'd be walking a lot). You hardly think about the walking.
It does sound like a good idea. And, if you don't especially enjoy exercise, combining it with TV sounds like a good way to work around that :)
The Wii controllers also plays a timing tick for every step so you can keep a rhythm while watching and not actually needing the visuals of the game.
Good to know. I may really have to look in to that.
I like to read with the tv on cause not having background noise is distracting.
I'm the complete opposite. It's near impossible for me to read with a lot of background noise that makes sense.
I've been learning card handling and sleight of hand stuff this summer while binge watching television. It's just mindless enough that I can pay attention, but I have noticeably gotten quicker and better with it. 8)
I like to knit when I'm watching tv or youtube shows where I'm not too interested in the picture. Or as @TNY mentioned something turn based, I like hearthstone.
If you're looking to get a little more exercise in you could try doing some sort of quick aerobic activity when the commercials come on. I would do this as a kid since I needed to get my endurance up for karate. I would usually do something like jumping jacks. Other things you could try are squats, planks, and lunges. It's a nice little interval exercise to get you moving a little more than usual.
