What are your favourite android apps?

Basically the title. I get bored. A lot. Whats an android app that you use to pass the time that you wish everyone could know? (Or just us for now)

You can spend hours upon hours testing the charge rate of your USB cables with an app called Ampere.

I live an exciting life, I know.

Holy shit! Why did I never think to look for an app like this?? Time to test ALL of the cables!!!

Well, 2 days ago I'd of said Reddit Sync, but that kinda went down the drain.

My answer now would probably be a list of apps by the Android developer SoloLearn which makes a series of apps that teaches basic programming in a variety of languages (I'm learning C++ right now). Tutorials are intuitive and quizzes follow each lesson. Pretty nice, actually.

Sync for Reddit is definitely my favorite Android app. Hopefully something just as good comes along for Snapzu.

The dev said he might make an app for Snapzu once the APIs are available and becomes more popular.

PocketCasts is what I use for Podcasts when I'm at work or when I walk my dog, other than that, their native news app is the best one I've used so far. It acts as a news aggregate even if my phone's language is French. It's pretty sweetass!

Telegram and Google Play Music would have to be my favorites. Telegram is just a beautiful app for an awesome service and Google Play Music is my favorite music streaming provider.

Any Wikipedia app (I use LoboWiki), because this allows me to spend a lot of time reading articles irrelevant to what I should be actually doing. Plus it's nice to have a Today I Learned moment each day.

For a slightly different angle, I wish everybody who loves playing around with their Android phones could know Tasker, Llama, or Automate if they're into automating phones, or Themer if it's more visual customisation they're into. A way to pass time indeed (though perhaps not productively, haha).

    Well lets see...

Bandcamp for all your Indie music buying and streaming.

Flud for torrents (much lighter and cleaner than the utorrent app).

Vlc to play your media downloaded from the app above (wink wink).

Thats all I can think of now, hope someone gets some use out of these!

Flightradar24 is my go-to time killer. It shows a realtime map of aircraft above you.

Recently, I downloaded a game called Plague Inc, where the point is to design a pathogen to eradicate humans from a map. It's great to play for an hour or so at a time- I recently played it on a long plane ride.

    Here's some of my favorites:

Adaway - ROOT REQUIRED - This nifty app changes the hosts file on your phone to block ads.

App Ops - ROOT REQUIRED - Android 4.3 or higher - This app lets you block permissions for specific apps. Don't want that flashlight app having access to your GPS, Wifi Connection, and your first born child? Block it!

Amazon App Store - It's an app store...they give free apps a lot. Usually they're terrible, but occasionally you'll snag a gem.

BR Team Stream - I am a diehard Utah Utes fan (in case the name didn't clue you in already). This is an excellent way to get news on my team from a variety of sources.

File Explorer - This app is an excellent file explorer with Material Design, and no ads. Media, Networking, and cloud required a paid add-on.

Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Onenote - These are surprisingly good versions of the core Microsoft Office apps. A free account allows creating and editing documents, though an Office 365 subscription is required for a LOT of features.

Podcast Addict - An excellent podcast app.

Portal - No, not the game. Sorry! This is an excellent WiFi file transfer tool. Navigate to portal.pushbullet.com, point the QR reader at your monitor, and BAM! Drag and drop any files you want to the browser, and they'll be sent over your local WiFI to your phone. It's almost like its a portal to your...oh...

Pushbullet - Ever wanted to push links from your computer to your phone? Or from your phone to your tablet? This is exactly what you're looking for. It's quick, easy, and painless. The development team is excellent, and are constantly working on improvements (that don't suck!).

Spotify - Free download ($10 per month, $5 with various discounts) - Spotify is an excellent music streaming service with a wide collection of music. I've never had a problem with it.

Titanium Backup - ROOT REQUIRED - Free download. Pro key is $6 - This app is an absolute essential for anyone who flashes ROMs to their phone frequently. It not only backups your apps, but also the data inside them. You can configure it to upload these backups to a cloud service as well.

Viper4Android - ROOT REQUIRED - This is an excellent equalizer and audio effects tool. It affects the phone system wide, and works very well.

Wakelock Detector - ROOT REQUIRED - Ever wondered just what app was draining your battery like crazy, even when the screen wasn't turned on? Wakelock detector might help you find it. The app measures when apps ping your phone when you're not using it, preventing it from keeping in a lower power state.

Wunderlist - This app is an excellent productivity tool, to create to-do lists. This is an absolutely lifesaver for me, at school.

What kind of things do you like? For me I enjoy listening to police/fire activity so I use a scanner radio app (I won't name one, because I don't endorse any).

FeedlyReader for catching up with news, Greenify for managing app killing, Pushbullet and Portal for moving stuff between devices and Luchadeer because Giant Bomb.

Greenify - Suspends apps to keep them from draining your battery. Its different than an app killer, which completely shuts down the app.

Flush - Find out were public toilets are and how they rate.

Manual Camera - Better than the stock camera imo.

SD Maid - (Root) Clean up your phone and free up extra space.

Smart Wifi Toggle - (Root) Turn on and off your Wifi based on cell towers.

    - ES File Explorer : besides managing your local files, it can connect to FTP, SFTP, Windows shares (any SMB server, including Samba on linux), WebDAV, several cloud providers, and many other nifty features.

    - Terraria : Can't get enough of that.

    - Titanium Backup : For backup and to de-crapify my phone.

    - Cyanogen Mod : It's the ROM I use, because the manufacturers ROMs usually suck (I'm looking at you Moto and Samsung)

    - Firefox : So I can sync with my desktop browser.

    - Keepass2android : to manage my passwords, so I don't have to reuse passwords.

Tasker - I use it for simple stuff such as changing my phone from silent to ringer mode when I'm home or turn off all ringers when I'm asleep.
