I used to walk around listening to music on my phone all the time, until I got one of the new iPhones. I got a pair of air pods and then lost them going through security at the airport ($150 down the drain). Then I lost the dongle.
This crap is just a thinly veiled scheme to make money selling pointless dongles and expensive earphones to people. There isn’t a single good reason I can think of to make customers deal with this.
Honestly I moved on to the bluetooth apple AirPods (and a couple of other brands as well), and never looked back. Sure they don't have the best sound, or noise cancelling, but they work well in a lot of situations, oh and did I mention they function flawlessly with my apple watch?
First time I tried a decent pair of noise cancelling headphones, I was well hooked. Can't go back.
