This looks tasty. Not really a fan of lard though, so Im thinking butter should still work well.
The problem is finding lard that has not been hydrogenated. Your butcher (if you can find one) might have some,or tallow which you can cook down in a crock pot.
Recently made these with butter and no lard. Still delicious!
