Commented in Over 100 PlayStation VR2 games are in development, Sony says
As per my knowledge, Sony had not officially announced the development of a PlayStation VR2 or any new virtual reality headset. Additionally, I do not have any information about the number of VR games in development for Sony's VR platform. It's always a good idea to check the official website or sources close to the company for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

Commented in This Could Finally Be the Year of E Ink, Seriously
I've had a Sony e-reader for years. I still love it.
I remember a friend had a really old kindle, the kind that would read a book aloud in a computer voice from the page you were up to, if you needed to stop reading, but could still listen. Amazon nuked that feature, so you had to buy an audio book separately, but the e-book and the audiobook don't fit together seamlessly any more.

Commented in PS5 price leaks for both consoles — and it won’t be cheap
$400 for a digital only console is still too much, IMO, I think even Xbox with the Xbox One S Digital had to drop the price under 200 to get it adopted, then shortly after dropped the Xbox One S with BluRay to 200 making me wonder if the Digital was a complete flop.
Digital is billed as the cheaper budget friendly option by both MSFT and Sony but in the long run for poorer people that will be drawn to these supposedly cheaper consoles that won't end up being the case. Digital games almost never come down in value, where Gamestop while nearing bankruptcy can still offer better deals on disks. Let's take Red Dead Redemption for Xbox 360/PS3 as an example, Digital price for the game is $30 on Xbox Marketplace, but I can get it for 9.99 used at Gamestop and it will be the Game of the Year Edition including the DLC, which I'd have to buy separate from Xbox Marketplace for an additional $10. But NinjaKlaus why did you use a X360 game as your example, simple because it's so much older than Xbox One games it shows that the digital price is just insane, at least for this commenter. Of course with the caveat that Gamestop cuts out the publisher and Microsoft from the profit and digital can't do that.
Oh and I didn't mean to comment all about Xbox but it's the only example I have right now with a digital only console.

Commented in The Limits of 'Made in America' Economics
The only way to force prices for made in America goods to be the same or similar to made in China goods is to bring back trade tariff's and we all know that's unlikely in this "free trade" bonanza world. Americans can barely afford to live (see over 50% live paycheck to paycheck) let alone pay more for Made in America. Sony used to be a big name brand in electronics, you would pay more for their name because the quality at least at the time was miles better, today Sony is having a hard time because an American would rather buy four Hisense TV sets for the same price as one Sony set.

Commented in Nintendo Switch review: the best portable console
The battery life of the Switch, according to Nintendo, ranges from two and a half to six hours, depending on what you’re playing. With The Legend of Zelda, I’ve been consistently getting just under three hours of playtime before I need to charge.
No long car rides then. It might be ok for a daily commute on public transit if it's a short trip, it may not last on a bus to MARTA into the city and back out for some in the outer edges of the metro with transit options.
The bottom edge of the Switch has a standard USB-C for charging, although we’ve yet to find a battery / cable that can charge the console faster than it drains.
That also sucks for long car rides, we need a cable that can charge this thing in the car.
Outside of a small flicker every now and then, the process of moving from one screen to the next is seamless. The no-nonsense, plastic base station doesn’t add any additional processing;
The flicker is kind of a bad thing like the docking isn't as smooth as every review is claiming. Also, it'd be great if they had boosted some things with the dock but I guess I can see why they didn't.
I’d almost say it’s an essential accessory if not for the $70 price tag, Sony and Microsoft’s controllers both cost less, and they also feature a headphone jack quietly gaming with headphones, something the Switch Pro Controller sorely lacks.
I don't understand this choice, I only want to game with this thing, to begin with, but being more expensive and having fewer features is stupid, Nintendo has a homerun idea and makes it a ground rule double.
start using a Joy-Con for motion-controlled games
When the others have moved on from this idea, Nintendo is tripling down, why?
The Switch, notably, won’t have a web browser. It won’t have Netflix, Virtual Console, Nintendo’s online store dedicated to reselling classic games from the company’s back catalog, that isn’t going to make launch. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the single flagship standout here, with the others mostly being smaller indie titles, many of which are available elsewhere. Zelda is available elsewhere, too, with a Wii U version also launching this Friday.
This means there is zero reason to buy this thing on launch, wait.
Here's another big question for Nintendo: long-term support. The company has long struggled with rallying third-party publisher interest.
Maybe don't be an asshole company and accept M-rated titles including things like GTA. Don't force weird motion controls, don't force, just allow companies to come join you. The biggest problem is this thing isn't as powerful as other current gen consoles and that will probably hurt 3rd party support.
All in all, I like the idea, I'd love to have one, but I can't justify paying more than an Xbox or PS4 on a company with a track record of all first party titles and stupid controls. Not to mention they're joining the others with paid online and Zelda is getting DLC.

Of course!!! What did Sony Entertainment expect? They did agree to let me use the snippet as long as it is not monetized. Which is good because I don't monetize anything. I have had to pull videos that I used for "Testing" the youtube copyright system. Which is why I am trying to test other distribution points and trying to find a way for the common man to purchase copyrighted material in media.

DirectX and "Writing to the metal"
When comparing performance, many people have noted that game consoles, especially Sony's (NYSE:SNE) Playstation 4, are capable of creating a very impressive experience in spite of using hardware that is several generations behind what is currently available as graphics hardware in the PC market. The advantage is in the lower cost of building consoles over PCs for games.
Additionally, games that were simultaneously developed for PC and PS4/Xbox One have tended to have more glitches. Time Warner's (NYSE:TWX) Batman: Arkham Knight was a classic example of the problems that programmers have faced trying to optimize the game on what should have been easily more powerful hardware. But even on cards that cost $600, the game would stutter and crash during dramatic moments.
This happens because there are all those hardware possibilities with the PC market. But with consoles, every one of them has the exact same hardware in each box. Software programmers can optimize the code that they are writing knowing that the outcomes will be uniform across the board, and will not have as many problems with bugs. They call this "Writing to the metal" internally. The longer a console has been in the marketplace, the better programmers become at making it more efficient.
Microsoft started to address this issue with DirectX a number of years ago. They started helping 3D hardware manufacturers like Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) and Radeon (NASDAQ:AMD) create standards for what they were releasing. As the years passed, each of these companies was able to write closer and closer to the metal.
And that's as far as I could get...

Commented in Amazon to Ban Sale of Apple, Google Video-Streaming Devices
Wow, that doesn't cause them any bad PR or possible problems. They've already been called out for killing brick and mortar now they want to stop carrying competing products, doesn't that leave them open to anti-trust problems? Apple only sells apple items, so they can get away with it, but Amazon is a fricking selling giant that is now stopping competition products from being sold, that sound bad to me. They did the same with Sony Readers and Kobo's too though. 3rd Parties could sell them but not the actual companies, I think.

Commented in John McAfee: Ashley Madison database stolen by lone female who worked for Avid Life Media
Okay the human who wrote this is a jackass. One, why does he have to so greatly emphasize that the leak was done by a woman who did not hack but just had access. As if because she's a woman that inherently means she is incapable of hacking. I think it's important to know how it happened, but he seems to very stuck on the fact that she's a woman and she did not hack.
Two, why would only women use the term scumbags? I'm pretty sure that's not a thing.
Even if it was some crazed woman leaking information out of male hatred, this guy is equally as batshit. I'm glad I already think McAfee software sucks ass.
Also apparently being a know it all jackass is his thing: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/john-mcafee-i-know-w...ed-sony-pictures-it-wasnt-north-korea-1483581

Commented in [NA] Playstation.Blog - PS Plus Games for August 2015
Those are two completely separate services.
Playstation Plus is the equivalent of Xbox Live Gold. If you're not familiar with any of those, then its basically a license that allows you to play Online games... With the added bonus of getting free games for your Playstation devices every month!
Playstation Now is a game streaming service, similar to Onlive or Nvidia's Grid. You can subscribe for a monthly fee or rent individual Playstation 3 games and you can play them on Playstation Now certified devices such as the Playstation 3 itself, PS4, PS Vita, Playstation TV, Sony Blu-Ray players or some Smart TVs (Sony and Samsung are supported, I believe)

Commented in If Nintendo made a smartphone
I gotta admit, I kind of hope Nintendo DOESN"T make a smartphone. Sony and Microsoft lost their ways as gaming companies by not making games the primary experience. Nintendo is the only one who, in my mind, makes true vg consoles these days. A smartphone by nature is not centered on games, it's a digital swiss-army knife.
A Nintendo tablet I would love to see, because it could be centered around games like Nvidia's Shield products. But Sony tried making a games-centered smartphone called the Xperia Play, and it flopped.
Still, I agree with OP that we need more innovators at the executive level. Most of them become corporate dogs when they get that high on the ladder. Iwata was a notable exception, may he RIP

Commented in Stop Preordering Video Games
I feel like there are some game though that do "Early Access" extremely well. I'm not sure of all the examples but Kerbal Space Program was an almost perfect example of how early access should work. Before the official release of KSP with the 1.0 update it was still an amazing game and I had a lot of fun playing it. The full release brought so many new things it felt like an entirely new game.
As far as preordering goes the whole "Preorder bonuses" is ridiculous and needs to stop, but to be honest the companies make a lot of money off of these basically non-refunded copies they sell. With the new steam refund I think this will be happening a lot less on PC considering what happened with the new Batman game. If Sony and Microsoft could also implement these refunds on their digital purchases (which it seems like a lot more people buying digital even on console) it would honestly stop a lot of these terrible releases in their tracks.

Commented in Looking for camera recommendations.
If you want to try mirrorless systems, you can get great results with Olympus, Fuji and Sony systems.
If you like shooting nature, I think an Olympus system would be great because the image stabilization is in the body instead of the lens. Buying more lens becomes a lot cheaper. Look into something like the OMD-EM5.

Commented in Looking for camera recommendations.
I recently picked up a Nikon D3300 and it has been fantastic. I don't shoot professionally, but like to photograph and record outings or trips. This kit from B&H Photo has a pair of kit lenses (18-55 & 55-200) to closely match your current setup but allow growth in the Nikon family.
Generally speaking, if your primary rationale for switching from Sony is a desire for a wider selection of used lenses then Canon or Nikon would likely be your best option. The used and rental market for these bodies is quite large so finding the perfect glass shouldn't be too difficult.
