To be honest, that headline figure is much lower than I thought it would be.

Why would I have my morning coffee at home when I can have it here with my two new best friends?

Ubuntu seemed to be heading in that direction, but then they shut down their cloud service (Ubuntu One I think it was called) so I don't quite know where that leaves them. I suspect you're right though, they'll come back to it at some point. I'm not a fan personally.

Exactly. If I'm running away from something I'd take my bike, but if my house were on fire then I'd leave it and put in an insurance claim for a new one! Other than the financial loss I don't think there's anything in my house I'd be devastated if I lost.

I'm not defending the drone pilots here, but is it ever okay to fire a shotgun into the air in a residential area? That's dangerous right? And threatening to shoot the pilot and his friends, that's surely not okay either.

I've tried to switch to Linux as my main OS more than a few times and it just never stuck, BUT, the other week I installed Linux Mint and it's just fantastic. Switching from Windows to Mint was the easiest thing ever. Straight forward GUI based installation and no major driver issues. I second Mint as a viable "just works" operating system.

It's a Snapzu thing too. If you type /u/Boop (for example) in a comment it automatically makes it into a link to http://snapzu.com/boop, but http://snapzu.com/u/boop goes to a 404.

Coffee Extraction and How to Taste It
"A well extracted coffee is a little miracle. A lot of work has gone into balancing countless variables to produce a tiny cup of deliciousness, and it’s imperative to know what this tastes like."

Yep, definitely not going to try to pick up The Simpsons past season 14ish.
But I am surprised The Principal and the Pauper from season 9 didn't get a mention.

I'm right with you on the affagato there. I discovered them when we had a little heatwave a few weeks ago. I was just having them as a drink rather than a desert though. Thankfully traditional British weather made a swift comeback otherwise I might have put on quite a bit of weight.

The Lido 2 is still much less inconvenient to use than the Porlex at least - it's quite a bit quicker. I'd probably want an electric grinder if I were grinding for more people though. Do you still use your Baratza Virtuoso at all or have you switched entirely to the Lido?
You're right about it getting grinds everywhere, but somehow I managed to do that even when I (gasp) used pre-ground coffee...

Yeah I think OE retweeted you, then I followed your comments back to find out how on earth you'd managed to break the plastic and not the glass catch jar. Funny that I should then see you here the next day. It's good to know that it wasn't hard to repair.

Oh, hey, I saw this on Twitter the other day too!
I read your blog post too, assuming this is your picture. I'm suprised you managed to break the hopper at all to be honest, but one of my favourite things about OE is that they make their stuff easy to take apart... and that they sell individual bits for it. I fully expect my grinder to outlive me! Most (all?) the Lido 3 parts fit the Lido 2 too which is nice.

Let's talk grinders Snapzu. Here's my review of the Lido 2 by Orphan Espresso. What grinder do you use?
Orphan Espresso’s Lido 2 and Lido 3 hand grinders are two extremely well designed high quality grinders. They’re hefty pieces of kit, and come at a price to match. [Read More]
