New San Francisco restaurant replaces humans with iPads
Those sick and tired of having to deal with their fellow humans all the time have a new respite – a fully automated restaurant in San Francisco. Customers at Eatsa in the Financial District will order from an iPad, sending the order to the kitchen. When the meal is ready, it appears in a small glass compartment. The food is prepared by real people, but the patrons never have to see them.

Been mentioned before, but this reminds me of the old Automat's back in the day. I remember seeing them in a movie or two.
Sounds like it would be an interesting experience. Some days I'm not in the mood for putting up with waiters. Would love to stop in somewhere, bang out what I want, pick it up and have myself a nice dinner without someone quizzing me how I liked my steak while I have an awkward mouthful of food.
Same with paying the check. Waiting for someone to show up at the right time so I can get out is a pain in the ass. Would be great to slide my card, have them email me my receipt, and leave.
Oh, and no loud-ass birthday singing. Count me in.
"A fully automated restaurant" where the food is still "made by the people" I guess it's not fully automated then, is it?
Yep save that term for when everything is automated, including the food preparation.
Reminds me of this (except it's not just laying there waiting for people like it is in the picture).
