    This is a very surprising turn of event.

    Alas, I doubt it'll change anything. Reddit is rotting from the inside because it's polarized between the overzealous agenda pushers and the apathetic meme junkies; both pushing away regular users looking for neutral and thoughtful content.

      It's really not that surprising, it's textbook. The day Victoria was fired tons of post describe exactly this. Pao was here to put in place unpleasant policies and take the blame. Now this policies are in place, she got her 12 months pay and everybody is happy that they "won". Steve even said "Steve’s great challenge as CEO [2] will be continuing the work Ellen started".

        I expected Pao to resign, but Spez coming back was a surprise. And since Spez was always much more part of the community than kn0thing is, it's at least somewhat heartening to see.
