No but Steve was a great guy with a good head on his shoulders managing reddit when it was still a great place to be. He apparently can tell Alexis when he's being an idiot.
Unfortunately that also coincides with Reddit becoming the cultural behemoth that even makes it a talking point. Is the biggest issue a growing and less unified community?
I think a lot of it has to do with Reddit becoming much more popular. When sites get like that, they become the trash like Ebaums, 9gag, and even YouTube.
I understand you not wanting to talk about a site that you have left, but unlike relationships, the websites people visit don't have to be exclusive. I don't want to convince you to use Reddit if you don't want to, but there are some of us who visit both (or... many) sites, and wish to have a reasonable discussion about them.
Oh, I didn't mean it like I don't want to see news about Reddit here. And I'm glad if they get their stuff together, me leaving reddit had very little to do with Ellen Pao to begin with.
It's not Reddit, it's me. I like to have a main page where I can spend some time time when I'm bored, and for over 6 years reddit was it for me. But I got bored of the self congratulating culture there, so I was bored being bored. I'll still visit some subs from time to time, but I'm back to lurking.
Yeah, people moving away is symptom of a much deeper issue. I really hope the downvoting here will stay at the level it's now, because that's 90% of the reason why there is no real discussion in Reddit. I'd prefer "upvote / flag for breaking site or tribe rules".
That's great, reddit. But I already started dating someone else. No hard feelings?
It was never about Ellen in the first place

I think his return is a good thing for reddit.

I like to think they wanted more publicity and fucked up royally. Sometimes publicity is bad publicity.

At least for me seeing an alternative made me less tolerant to seeing the same inane jokes all the time.
You totally misread that homie.
