Neanderthals didn't give us red hair but they certainly changed the way we sleep
Geneticists have now firmly established that roughly two percent of the DNA of all living non-African people comes from our Neanderthal cousins. It’s difficult to imagine why our early ancestors would mated with them.

What Does the Internet Do to Our Memories?
When I wake up and check my phone in the morning, it often has a few reminders for me. Facebook tells me that I have new “memories” with friends through its “On This Day” feature — an anniversary of when I first met some rando, or an update from a long-past party. Humans Caused a Major Shift in Earth's Ecosystems 6,000 Years Ago

They then used statistical techniques...

His wife, who had left him in July 2014, was living with another man. His weight reached 567 pounds. He told himself he had a choice: Rot away in Danville, Ind., where he had been living with his parents, or do something drastic to save his life and marriage.

The Graying Thieves Who Nearly Got Away With a Record Heist in London
On Friday nights for three years, they met over pints at the Castle, a pub in Islington, in North London. The four men were getting on in years, but they were not there just to talk about retirement plans or the aches and pains of aging. Experienced thieves with long criminal records, they had something far more pressing in mind: an audacious, career-topping heist they boasted the world would never forget.
