You say that like it's a bad thing. Sound practice around safety, discipline and training in the use of firearms seems not all that far a cry from swim, driving or CPR instruction. Would you say even knowing how to use weapons responsibly well is inherently evil?
It teaches gun safety and proper firing technique. Transferring that to efficiently shooting people rather than paper targets is more of a "Bring your own mental illness" to the situation.
