The Male Game / Mužné hry (1988)
A man sits down to watch a football match, which seems to consist of the players being violently mutilated in various inventive ways. The players then leave the football pitch and invade the spectator's flat... Another wonderfully weird short from Svankmajer that masterfully blends various animation styles with live action.

Almost 40 years (and seven presidential administrations) have passed since Orson Welles narrated Freedom River. And although the animation shows some age, the parable, the commentary on America, still resonates today.
The backstory behind the film deserves a little mention. According to Joseph Cavella, a writer for the film:
"For several years, Bosustow Productions had asked Orson Welles, then living in Paris, to narrate one of their films. He never responded. When I finished the Freedom River script, we sent it to him together with a portable reel to reel tape recorder and a sizable check and crossed our fingers. He was either desperate for money or (I would rather believe) something in it touched him because two weeks later we got the reel back with the narration word for word and we were on our way."

Wow! A truly incredible video! This book has been my cinematic bible for the last 10 years and I've still only seen a fraction of the full 1001. Whereas here we have an editing genius who has super spliced the whole shebang plus a few hundred extras into one magical movie montage!!! Bravo Jonathan Keogh!

Carousel (2009)
Directed by Adam Berg, Carousel is a 2 minute 19 second short film sponsored by Philips. The film offers an exploration into one single frozen moment of time in a robbery gone wrong in one Hard Boiled-inspired continuous tracking shot. The story line is obviously taking a cue from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, featuring a swat team who has moved in to a decimated hospital, entering into a shootout with a bunch of robbers wearing sinister clown masks.
