There’s an obvious strawman in your argument that I won’t bother with.

There is nothing misanthropic about not giving people with no education and/or no critical thinking skills the leash to entire nations. In fact, it is the opposite. Democracy always turns, sooner or later, into demagogy. Which was ok when countries didn’t have the power to fuck up the entire world many times over, but is problematic now.

Straight up, if the public has no education, then it is not a democracy. If it is your view that democracy always turns into demagoguery, that's cool. I'm fine dismissing democracy as mob rule. It's not like conceding that is going to lower property values, there being so very little that is democratic. Take the U.S. Democratic Party for instance, a private club that argues it has no legal obligation to be democratic. Know what else inevitably turns to demagoguery? Everything. Mao, Amin, Pol Pot, Stalin, Nixon — none of these creatures crawled out of the primordial muck of democracy to evolve into what they would become. Still not buying that democracy is responsible for runaway global warming. Why not Russian trolls? Or Antifa? Or Tucker Carlson?
