Android apps let you see the permissions requested by the app before installing anything. If I'm considering an app, and its permissions include call logs or to read text messages, I just don't install that app, I'll happily live without it. I'd rather have my privacy.

Far too many people don't read, or don't understand what they are agreeing to.
"Just hurry up and give me this cool new ringtone that needs full access to everything".
