They forgot one other option: the people who are tetrachromatic, with a fully working fourth cone, and think that is just normal, and never bother about it. Or do exceptional things with the gift, but nobody knows how the person does it. (Or can't even see it.)

Well, if the scientists can't come up with any idea for a test, why not let those people develop one. I mean, they see 100 times more colours than us, measly trichromates and even bichromates.
