A UK woman has an extra cone cell in her eyes and can see more colors.
Most people are trichromats, possessing three types of cone cells to see color with. A woman in northern England has four types of working cone cells, which means she has the ability to see far more colors than most of us can. According to estimates, that means she can see an incredible 99 million more colors than the rest of us, and the scientists think she’s just one of a number of people with super-vision, which they call “tetrachromats”, living amongst us.

They forgot one other option: the people who are tetrachromatic, with a fully working fourth cone, and think that is just normal, and never bother about it. Or do exceptional things with the gift, but nobody knows how the person does it. (Or can't even see it.)
A trichromatic oriented world must be boring for a tetrachromatic person. :-)
All they need to do now is figure out how this advantage can make them a decent living.
Well, if the scientists can't come up with any idea for a test, why not let those people develop one. I mean, they see 100 times more colours than us, measly trichromates and even bichromates.
I read about her years ago and I'm so envious I can hardly stand it!!!!!
Somebody show her that black-blue/gold-white dress and let's see what she says.
