Women in Texas Prisons Denied Same Academic, Job Training Opportunities as Incarcerated Men
Men serving prison sentences in Texas can earn up to a master’s degree behind bars, but the educational glass ceiling for women incarcerated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice remains an associate’s degree plan. The same gulf exists between job certification programs offered to men and women in Texas prisons, according to a new report by the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition. Men, who can choose from a list of 21 professions, have the option of walking out of prison a certified welder...

Sarah Silverman’s response to a sexist tweet is a much-needed ray of hope
American comedian Sarah Silverman is unapologetically blunt in her fight against misogyny. But Silverman has also made a point of exploring the depths of her own empathy. “I just keep asking myself, can you love someone who did bad things?” she said, after her dear friend and fellow comedian, Louis CK, was accused of sexual harassment. “I can mull that over later, certainly, because the only people that matter right now are the victims.”

'Game Of Thrones' Star Forced To Apologize For Saying Men Can Be Victims Of Sexism
Game of Thrones star Kit Harington says he's sorry for believing that men can be victims of sexism and objectification, just like women can. Harrington, who plays Jon Snow, told a newspaper back in May that he often feels objectified by women who watch the show just to see snaps of Harington's...er...assets...and that while he understands he was hired largely for his rugged good looks and perfect six-pack abs, but that's just "a head of hair and a set of looks."

Rick and Morty Creator Dan Harmon “Loathes” the Show’s Sexist Viewers
Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon has blasted his show’s sexist fans in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, calling their behavior “disgusting.” It seems a number of the animated comedy’s biggest fans are fragile of masculinity: Incensed by the show's recent decision to employ a gender-balanced writing team, these trolls have taken it upon themselves to harass, threaten, and dox its female writers for daring to encroach upon their white-male-nerd territory.

Sexism & Fonts
My five-year-old son asked me this question the day Positype released its promotional site for Lust Hedonist. The Lust Series, a self-described “overly indulgent attempt to infuse wanton sensuality in a typeface,” features a variety of formal contrasts: sharp and curvy serifs, thin counters combined with thick bodies. It is the work of Neil Summerour, known for his crowd-pleasing fonts and lettering, and it is striking.

Why Aren't There More Women Futurists?
In the future, everyone’s going to have a robot assistant. That’s the story, at least. And as part of that long-running narrative, Facebook just launched its virtual assistant. They’re calling it Moneypenny—the secretary from the James Bond Films. Which means the symbol of our march forward, once again, ends up being a nod back. In this case, Moneypenny is a send-up to an age when Bond’s womanizing was a symbol of manliness and many women were...
