Old but excellent ink-splatting plaformer de Blob is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on November 17th, THQ Nordic has announced. De Blob originally released on Nintendo Wii back in 2008, and got a fair few thumbs-up for its refreshingly distinct platform puzzling. It's pretty delightful all round, and involves manoeuvring the titular de Blob - "equal parts amorphous blob of paint, struggling artist, revolutionary and juvenile delinquent"...

Looks like Sony really is going to go hard at Paris Games Week – despite it taking place just a few weeks prior to PlayStation Experience in December. A new PlayStation Blog post notes that the platform holder will be making “big new game announcements and updates” in the French capital later this month.

Atlus has released the first set of 4K resolution screenshots of Dragon’s Crown Pro. The upcoming PlayStation 4 port of the VanillaWare-developed action RPG features 4K resolution visuals on PlayStation 4 Pro, a newly recorded live orchestra soundtrack, cross-play with the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita versions, and English and Japanese voice options. It also includes all six Storyteller add-ons, which were originally released for 514 yen each.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia announced that the online services for Gravity Rush 2 will shut down on January 19, 2018 at 2:00pm JST.

Get eyes on the new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer, revealing apparent new protagonist outlaw Arthur Morgan alongside the more familar Van der Linde gang. Red Dead Redemption 2 comes out on a release date to be determined in "Spring 2018" on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Of course the Nintendo Switch is doing better than the PS4 in Japan, you might say. But that’s not what I’m talking about. Rather, in each console’s first 26 weeks on sale in Japan, the Nintendo Switch posted significantly better sales numbers than the PS4 did.

Game downloads on PS4 have a reputation of being very slow, with many people reporting downloads being an order of magnitude faster on Steam or Xbox. This had long been on my list of things to look into, but at a pretty low priority. After all, the PS4 operating system is based on a reasonably modern FreeBSD (9.0), so there should not be any crippling issues in the TCP stack. The implication is that the problem is something boring, like an inadequately dimensioned CDN.

Prey launched in May to a mixed reception. Some of the criticism it received was due to a bunch of the PS4 version's performance problems, such as input lag, screen-tearing, and more. Hello GT Fans! I’m extremely excited to confirm that Gran Turismo Sport will be launching on October 17 in North America. Following the successful completion of our Closed Beta phase, as announced earlier this week, we are now entering the final stages of polishing as we prepare for launch.

According to an internal source, the online payment company Paypal today initiated a mass chargeback on "thousands" of Sony Entertainment Network transactions, for reasons yet-unknown. These chargebacks have ended up putting the PSN accounts affected into debt, which triggers the system to auto-ban that account until it's back in the black.
