Red Dead Redemption 2 is now set to launch Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.

As part of Sony's earnings report for the fiscal fourth quarter and full year ended March 31, the company announced it shipped 2.9 million PlayStation 4 units in the past three months. That's up from 2.3 million during the same period last year. For the full fiscal year (April 1, 2016 through March 31, 2017), Sony shipped 20 million PS4 units, up from 17.7 million units during the prior fiscal year. Yesterday, Microsoft announced plans to open up Xbox One for PS4 cross-platform play, and publicly invited many other companies and developers to consider connecting its networks with Xbox Live as well. Now, Sony has given a somewhat open-minded response to the press outlet GameSpot that neither confirms nor denies the possibility of such a deal going down with Microsoft. While it's been possible to link a DualShock 4 to a PC to play Steam games, the functionality has been provided by third-party apps, not the companies themselves.
