D.C. rapper ‘Swipey’ shot and killed in Prince George’s County early Sunday
D.C. rapper Swipey, who had amassed a dedicated fan base in the region and thousands of followers online, was shot and killed early Sunday in Prince George’s County, police said. Swipey, whose real name was Douglas Brooks, was found shortly after 1 a.m. outside a home in the 3600 block of Parkway Terrace Drive in Suitland. Police had responded to a call of gunshots and found Brooks, 18. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Police said Sunday that they do not believe the shooting was random but that they were still working to determine a suspect and motive.

The Misfits have announced a new drummer for their forthcoming reunion shows – and it’s none other than Dave Lombardo, the former drummer of Slayer. He will be joining the punk rock group on stage in September, and play on their festival dates. The Misfits, whose original lineup is Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only and Doyle Wolfgang, first split up in 1983, but bassist Only revived the name in 1995..
