So it's two in the morning here by me and my phone just told me I got my invite... guess I'm not sleeping tonight!

Do any longer-term users have some advice for a snapzu noob? Usually I just lurked on reddit but the constant drama is a real turn off so I decided to join the exodus and check out over here, all's good so far :D So, anything I should be aware of?

Sleep is for the weak anyway....

That said, welcome to the party! Take a look around, you'll like what you see. Dive in and start posting, it's a great community.

Make sure to take a quick peek at the FAQ and Rules.

You should be able to find some interesting tribes in the Tribe Index and /t/newtribes . Also, the search function here is really good for finding tribes.

    Have fun!

Hey /u/Tsugumori! Welcome. There are many ex-(and current)-redditors around these parts, so you'll fit right in.

Some key differences that will help make your experience a bit better:

    - Local Feed: You can "Follow" specific users, similar to something like Twitter, where you can customize what kind of posts/comments you see. The system should automatically set you to follow 15 people when you make your account, based on your interests.

    - Snaps: On Snapzu posts can be much more complex, you can add Related Links, Sources, and most importantly Modules. Modules allow you to add images, polls, and any other resources to a single Snap. Snaps can also be submitted to multiple Tribes (similar to subreddits). This allows for much more centralized discussion. Even more interestingly, a Snap's ranking on a particular tribe is specifically based on votes it's received from that Tribe.

    - Experience/Reputation: By simply using Snapzu (posting, commenting, voting) you earn experience which allows you to Level Up. Levelling grants you access to additional features such as profile customization, or grants you more of something you already have (being able to subscribe to more tribes, follow more users, etc). Up/downvotes affect your reputation, which is incremented/decremented once per day. Obviously higher reputation is better. Also, most of us try to encourage users to only downvote as a moderation tool (e.g. spam, doesn't contribute to discussion, rude comment, pedantry).

    - Community: In general you will find people here extremely helpful and friendly, so feel free to bug someone if you have any other questions!

    Welcome Tsugumori!

Some things you should be aware of? Well, you're kind of limited at first, but the more you interact (comment, post snaps and discussions, vote on content), the more you gain XPs and unlock new features, or raise the limits that you start with, so go ahead and use the site!

Also, snaps (the equivalent of Reddit's link posts, but that can do much, much more than that) belong to a user here, not to a tribe, so once you're submitted it, you can move it around, put it in more than one tribe, etc. It took me some time to understand this at first. But on the other hand, discussions (text posts) are fixed in a tribe (for now at least, I heard they'll make them the same as snaps in the next update), so you can't move them to a new tribe or post them to more than one tribe at a time.

Hello reddit refugee! I am certainly a noob like you, but I've got a couple things for you:
Here's the prologue, a nice intro to what makes Snapzu unlike any other site out there.
Here's the Tribes Index, a list of the most popular tribes
You can also check out /t/newtribes for all the new and shiny on Snapzu.
And finally, don't forget to follow users you get along with or you like, so you can expand your range of things to read and react to! Your main feed is basically your new home, and there is a LOT of stuff there, don't forget to play with the filters!
So welcome /u/Tsugumori, and if there's anything, you can always ask around /t/asksnapzu or shoot me a PM and we'll find the answer together :P
p.s: Sleep is for the weak they say. I'm insomniac, so it's my comfortable reality :P
