I live in a beautiful area, so I like looking on Google maps and finding some weird, rural road and driving there. I once found myself driving up a mountain unexpectedly and had that sort of thrill of "what am I going to find?" I accidentally picked up a very old man from the side of the road another time - for safety reasons I don't recommend it, but it was a unique experience certainly. I found a road that is right beside a river, tucked up behind some farms, and on the road there was a property that had several trailers and modified schoolbuses that people were living in - it was so beautiful, I've never been so envious in my life. I've found these obscure parks that seemingly no one goes to, but they have parking and everything, so sometimes I'll drive there and nap in the sun for a while.

Basically I like exploring. I can't recommend it enough as a solo activity - windows down, music playing, maybe a cold beverage if it's hot out.

I'm in for a weekend where the weather is forecast to be the coldest in 12 years, with damaging winds, snow, sleet and hail. Might skip the mountains but this is a great idea for when it warms up a little. Don't know where I'll find an old man though-just have to be lucky!

Oh, yeah, this is definitely a spring/summer/fall thing for me - probably shouldn't be driving too much in that kind of weather. As for the old man, he was on the side of an extremely remote road with a little dog on a leash and he looked distressed so I pulled over to ask if he was okay, and he started saying, "oh, thank you so much," and got in my car. I quickly texted my roommate my info in case I got murdered, but I ended up just taking him to the grocery store to pick up some food and then back to his home to be dropped off.

Adding onto this, if you're not much of the exploring type, but still maybe want to get out and see some nature and fresh air, look up geocaching in your area. It gives you a set destination and still lets you get out of the house to some place new.

My own suggestion is to read a book. Just go to the library and talk to a librarian about your interests and see if they can recommend you anything, or sit down for an hour and read something you've been meaning to get to. Also, if you have a good relationship with your parents and they're still alive, give them a call just to chat! They'll really appreciate it.

I came to suggest geocaching! I've recently gotten into it and it's very cool and very gratifying! The geocaches are everywhere so if you plan well, you can find a few in a day. Some geocaches have been in places I go all the time, and realizing that there has been a little hidden treasure there all along is crazy. Some of them are in places that I've seen, but in areas I never would have otherwise explored. Even if you just try it out for a day, I'd say it's definitely worth giving a shot!

I have heard about geocaching but don't know the first thing really. Great suggestion -might have to do some research.
