What is the official name for a snapzu user?

Snapers? Snapies? Snapzites? Homo Snapians?

Also, what's the collective name for a flock of them?

Snapzite seems to be one I've seen a couple of times around here. Snapzites for a flock?? Dunno but I like it.

I like this one. makes us sound more like an internet group and less like a turtle

I'm thinking in the line of a pride of lion or a murder of crows.

      Maybe an upvote of snapzites?

I like the upvote of snapzites. We could go for something tribe related, maybe a brood of snapzites or a society of snapzites?

I like snapzites best for sure. Something just sounds right about it.

Snapper is the only one that doesn't sound hideously forced IMO.

Edit: come, enlightened ones! Let us unite in our knowledge of the sanctity of the snapper! Join the tribe of Team Snapper!

This is the winner. It's not forced at all and it rolls off the tongue much more easily than Snapian.

This 100% has my vote. Everything else sounds silly.

Hey, and guess what? If you're a reddit refugee, that makes you a red-snapper.

True, but Snapper could be confused with a snapchatter.

      • double2

I think the more poignant comment on that front is that snapzu could be mistakenly seen to be associated with snapchat. And there's not much we can do about that, I would have thought.

Speaking of forced, I think I read someone wanting to call the user base "snapuzuites"

I like any of the following:

    - Happy Snapper

    - Snapian

    - Snapper

    - WhipperSnapper (a younger snapzu user) ;)

Homo Snapians has my vote. Snappies or Snappers would be adorable, though.

Snappers is exactly what I was thinking. Maybe the mascot for this site could be a turtle?

Seconded. There was a thread like this last week on my first day here. My suggestion was to use the Alligator snapping turtle as mascot. This is probably the most badass turtle in existence.

"Snappers" is easy to say, and reminds me of people taking photos (snapping pics). Using it as a verb ("snapping") should be easy to market, too...

"Hey, you see that article on <x>?'

" Yeah, someone snapped it earlier."

    Snapzite is pretty standard.

I'm personally still rooting for Snapzuvian. But alas, I don't think it's ever going to happen.

OK, I had to do it. The official tribe for "TEAM SNAPPER now exists"!

Homo Snapiens. And, I think, a tribe. Fits both the site structure and the "Homo Snapiens" context.

    Snapster? Snapzuser? Snap Artist?

A snapster is someone who was on the site before it was cool. :)

Homo Snapian has a certain ring although possibly a bit long for it to catch on.

    a cache of snapzites

    a caper of snapers

    a chatter of snappers

    • redalastor

Well... We mostly say "humans" for "homo sapiens sapiens". It could be the official formal name. :)

Snapzu, as a social community platform, has some really great game elements. You embark on your journey at level 1 (newbie) and can progress all the way up to level 50 (a seasoned “Snapzite”), unlocking cool new features, perks, and upgrades along the way. Below are some things you can do right away to get yourself better accustomed to the site:

The Prologue section in the site's footer calls us "Snapzites". Seems like what the admins has settled on, so we should call us that!

  • frohawk
    +2

We really should have a poll of some sort.

If it was Snapper, plural could be a school of Snappers! It's cool because not only does it reflect the name of the website, it describe an action the website users frequently do! (snap)

Come ooon, it's totally cohesive name for us.

I asked this the other day (snap here) and there were a lot of interesting suggestions, and a strong showing for "Snappers" and "Snapzites," but no real consensus then either. One late suggestion in that conversation, by /u/HeyYourself, that made me smile was "Snapplings." I'm not a big fan of Snappers, and I suggested Snapzuvians (based on the precedent of Peru->Peruvians), but don't know if I like that very much either. I suppose I'll go with the group if a consensus is ever reached, but Snappers just seems very dull to me.

    Edit: syntax, structure
